Just looked him up on wiki. Why did he leave Central as a head coach to be a position coach at another high school?

He was probably too good at it and wanted to give others a chance.

It's a good thing he hasn't been hired as the OC.

Auburn 2008, preseason #10, went 5-7, averaged 17.3 ppg (112/120)
This is flawed. He took over after Tony Franklin was shown the door and wasn’t OC all season.

He was the OC when USL beat the Aggies

Yeah.. Steve put up 42 points on Missouri.. Since that fateful day 6 teams have put up more.

Middle Tennessee (51)
Tennessee (63)
Missouri State (43)
Auburn (51)
Georgia (53)
Arkansas (45)

Unless he broke every single LSU record against Missouri it's a non topic.

True - but he took over when AU was 4-2 and still ranked. Only win under him as OC was vs UT-Martin.

In his 5 games against P5 competition, AU scored 5 offensive TDs and, outside of a 319-yard passing game in a 17-7 lost to Ole Nutt, broke the 125-yard barrier in either rushing or passing offense exactly once each.

Oh, don't forget he was the co-OC at AU in 2003, when a backfield that included three future first-rounders and another who would rush for 1000 yards twice in the NFL, a WR corp that featured four more future NFL players, and a deep OL. That talented squad was held to 7 points or less our times that year, with rushing totals of 81, 50, 43 and 40 in those four losses. In fact, the only two TDs the offense scored in those contests came in the final moments of the fourth quarter in games where the score was 31-0 and 26-0.

Good thing he's not going to be your OC. That would suck for y'all.

Ensminger was one of the hottest names in the country when he was at Georgia and Texas A&M. That coincided with some bad years at LSU, so it was painful as a fan to watch a former LSU QB excel, while we sucked.

I don't want Ensminger as our OC now, but long ago virtually every LSU fan did.

20 years ago actually is a very long time. The only player on the team alive when he was at Georgia is Von Rosenberg.

Franklin was actually OC at AU for half the season but still. Yeesh.

Want to blow your mind even more? Tony Franklin was fired and they were 5-2. They finished 0-5 the rest of the season. They also averaged less points, yards per game and rushing yards per game after Franklin was fired.

As I said the night of that big record against Missouri the week after the Auburn game:

Don’t read too much into it. We were playing an inferior team that had zero ability to game plan in order to compensate. No tendencies or film to coach on other than general formations. Nothing.

Don't know who LSU will hire but

Ensminger > Canada

His stats last year vs Canada this year bear that out.

Fact.

Not his offense or playbook.

Are you suggesting we go back to Cam’s playbook and have Steve Call plays?

You mean like the ones where we scored 0 points vs Bama and 10 vs Florida?
