Some of Saban’s success is due to LSU’s failure

To hire a competent coach that could evolve and keep stability to a program that was absolutely ready to dominate college football.

Change my mind.

Bama escaped LSU in 2008, 2012, 2014, 2021. And got an undeserved rematch in 2011.

Bama has been fantastic, but yes a strong LSU would have slowed Saban’s rampage through the SEC.

No kidding
Shock Bama in 2011 by starting Mett and airing it out in the dome...WIN
One play against BAMA in 2012 and we're kicking Notre Dames arse for the Natty

WE would be the dynasty but for the grass eating moron.

With a decrepit bullshite offense, LSU gave away games in 2012 and 2014. With a lame duck coach playing third stringers, LSU gave away the 2021 game. And it took about 5 INTs from Lee for Bama to squeak out an OT win in 2008. Oh and an absurdly bad call on the PP7 INT in 2009 combined with a decrepit bullshite offense.

These are all games LSU could and maybe should have won with better coaching and/or a little good luck.

Teams who play smart and disciplined—good coaching—pull out these close wins. That’s what Bama always does. That’s what LSU will do now.

You’d have been DV’d to rant hell had you said this while Miles was still wearing P&G. So glad we can all admit this now.

Saban is both good and fortunate. A top tier coach either way, but he’s not immortal without some legendary bed-shitting from the biggest annual obstacle in his path.

One can also make a case that Saban's success led to LSU's failure. He won a lot of hardware on the backs of Louisiana kids.

. Something people forget about that games was that Jefferson got speared in the chest by a D lineman and knocked from the game in the first half. Clear penalty and nothing was called

Rich Rodriguez is to blame for much of Saban’s success. Had he come to LSU instead of WV, Saban would have likely stayed at MSU.

Rich Rod obviously wasn’t as successful as Saban and the rest us history.

In fact, LSU wouldn’t be the #1 College Football destination hadn’t had Rich Rod came.

LSU would only have one NC (1958) if Saban hadn’t built the foundation. Chew on that motherfricker.

You’re right.

We do get Alabama’s best effort every year due to both teams always having bye weeks. Is this the only big SEC rivalry that both teams always have bye weeks before? Do Georgia and Florida always have a bye before their game?

Play-calling was infuriating. We were finally rolling on offense and settled for a FGA intentionally.

You’re bragging about it like you had something to do with LSU hiring Saban.

well. yeah..

LSU wins the rematch against bama and suddenly the ENTIRE landscape changes.

lsu has another natty. they win in 2012 and play for another. suddenly we aren't losing recruits to bama and we have 10 straight #1 classes and they're building statues of Les Miles.
