I guess that "bidding war" never really materialized, huh Joe?

Do you know what bidding means? and do you know what it means when a guy wants to coach at one of the schools involved in the bidding?

He was never going to play for LSU for that amount. Get it through your heads.

Yes, I'm aware of what this means. I'm skeptical we ever had a "handshake agreement" if this is the number he actually signed for.

He was never going to LSU once the Texas job opened. If Strong had not been so horrible, we'd have Herman.

We screwed Herman by not driving up the price. Alleva knew what was about to happen and screwed him by not giving him and his agent the bidding war. Texas gave him an offer and said "take it or we're moving on" and with no competition lined up, he took it.

Herman had some leverage, but he was playing with big boys and he was told what he would take.

I saw something about Herman that concerned me in the interview before the Memphis game that his team went out and lost. In that interview in the hallway he stupidly took it (bad move), totally flubbed the question, got really flustered, and stormed off. My take at the moment was, "This guy isn't ready for prime time."

We will see. But, we could have another Rich Rod at Michigan situation here. Time will tell.

Seems like you're missing the point.

Or maybe LSU pulling out yanked his leverage, giving UT a discount, purposely costing Herman a mil or so

Once LSU shut it down, UT had him for "cheap" hands down. He was trying to get more and LSU wouldn't play.

LSU should have offered 6 so Texas would have offered 6.5 or 7. Screw them. Joe has a little girl bitch ego. Herman did what anybody would have done

Joe screwed Herman for walking away from the handshake deal. Texas doesn't care about $1.5 million. Herman definitely does.

Alleva saw he was getting played by a coordinator who coached two years at Houston and just lost to Memphis, Navy, and SMU. Joe pulled the rug out from under him and cost him millions.

I'm no Joe Alleva apologist, but how can you see it any other way?

I'm gonna go ahead and assume our AD went cheap and convenient like he did with our basketball head coaching vacancy. I guess we'll never know who's right!

He was never going to LSU once Joe Alleva walked away from the negotiating table because deep down he knew he was completely and totally out of his league, and wanted to drag the LSU brand down to his pathetic, spineless level

This would have been more accurate.

Why not, though? Worst case scenario he ends up at Texas.

Good luck trying to convince The pro O crowd that. I agree with you completely.

Because our AD and a portion of our fan base are ignorant, spineless, losers.

Majority of our fan base are dysfunctional idiots. I always thought they were a core minority until this year.
