he the guy who brought us the laid egg a little over a week ago? If his vaunted squad at U Washington couldn't handle U Michigan [which had a very nice, balanced squad] good luck to him in the SEC.

Dude is a good coach. Will be interesting to see how his recruiting goes over at Bama though.

He’s a very good coach. Recruiting and assimilation into Bama culture is yet to be seen.

He's gonna need a much better stable of horses than he had at U Washington

I mean Bama already has a loaded roster, and he managed to get to the CFP by bringing in Penix and maximizing what he could get at Washington.

I think he will do fine short term and well long term if he can keep the recruiting up. I don't want Bama to succeed but they definitely got the best available coach out there.

True. We'll see how my observation ages. Color me skeptical at the moment

Did you not watch the end of the Texas game? He almost had one the greatest choke jobs in history.

Not all coaches are perfect

He brought a team to the national championship that probably had no business being in the top 10 without good coaching

So you are disparaging him for losing in the national title game?

He may or may not work out, but that's a weak-arse critique.

Michigan also beat Alabama. And Deboer is 3-0 against Lanning at Oregon and 2-0 against Sark at Texas.

He will have to assimilate and prove he can recruit at this level, but he's a great coach.

Lucky for him he's not the coach at Washington anymore. So, assuming he can retain much of the current roster at Alabama your critique sounds, well, ridiculous. Your position is that he couldn't beat Michigan because he didn't have the players. Well, now he's going to have Alabama's players.

Rome odunze is a first round pick and he inherited him. Penix likely 1st round was a 7th year senior that he knew from his year at Indiana (though notably inherited him there).
Jalen McMillan he inherited is second or third rounder
Troy fautanu is a first rounder in OL deboer inherited

They are a talented team most of which he inherited

Lucky for him, he’s inheriting another pretty talented team

Well, Alabama couldn’t handle that same squad

Yeah. Didn’t say any different. Just think it’s dumb to say the preseason number 10 team who has multiple first rounders on offense “probably had no business being top 10 without good coaching”

I mean, you could also look at it like they were preseason top 10 in '23 because of the good coaching he did in '22 when they went 11-2, including wins over both Lanning and Sark, and he won the 1st of his 2 consecutive Pac 12 COY awards.

Were they all 1st rounders when he "inherited" them, or did he have a hand in developing them into 1st rounders?

DeBoer is going to fail spectacularly, you heard it here first. He will be at Alabama 3, no more than 4 years and leave with the program in shambles.

The clock on his honeymoon is already ticking, how many days until he has to line up and play Georgia? That is the number of days he gets to enjoy the admiration and love from the bama fans.

I think it’s a good hire, but the bar is set so high and Bama fans are so delusional, he could be great and they still run him out of town before he really gets his program going.
