Makes sense, it's tough to afford nice living quarters for your family on such an insignificant salary....

Yea with all this extra time we've had to assess it'd be laughable to end up just hiring O. Not like we canned our coach early December and find ourselves scrambling.

Well it will be about a $200k net loss just in adding La state income taxes, plus one of the highest sales tax rates in the country. So at 5.3 (current), plus $200k in additional taxes, he will net gain about $500k or < 10%. It's all relative but it takes more than 9% in salary increase for most people to move out of state for a job.

To me if shows the incompetence of this admin. They tried this BS last year and it blew up in their face. They should never have fired Miles until they had a replacement. To much confusion with an interim coach, it splits the fanbase. (And no I'm not an O supporter)

To think this could/should have all been taken care of last fall.

Could already have Jimbo now we're looking at O. I swear i will personally flog f.king alexander and Alleva if its O and I don't even know what that means.

But O will bring kiffin! The same dicknut that kept running right into Aranda's D on the edge where we wanted them for almost the whole game? Gee willikers sign em up!

If you told me this before last season, I wouldn't believe it.
Since LSU is nickel and diming the best coach on their list, I'm starting to think this was not about getting Jimbo or any other big name. This was about the program going cheap and hiring Ed Orgeron so they can get caught up on their finances. Bring in the home town baw. If he does well, we give him the job and pay him the lowest salary in the SEC. Awesome. I'm sure all of the big programs are doing the same thing. You know, with the economy and all. Gotta love it.

You're asking a guy to leave his current job, where he has won a national championship and made the playoffs already, pack up and move from another state. You fired your previous head coach, who won a national championship and never won less than 8 games a season, in order to get this guy. You forked out millions in order to do that.

He knows you want him, and you don't expect him to say "this is what it would take"?

We make gobs of cash from the TV deals, a housing stipend won't break the bank.
He says "this is my list", you say "ok, give it to me, we'll hammer it out".
Jeez, the lunacy of this place sometimes... we have a legit shot to return to national prominence, with a top coach. If we let this slip by for petty details, it may be a decade before we get another shot at such a prominent coach, and who knows if we'll still be such a desirable program to take over then. Make the move.

Jimbo has all the leverage right now.

He has all the leverage because the money people, like a lot of LSU fans, have fallen on their back with legs up and wide open.

Can't wait to see how molested you all feel in three years when Jimbo still hasn't beat Alabama.

Just remember, you begged for it and paid him to do it.

BTW no amount of money will help the coaches that LSU is going after.

How did Coach O do against them with one of our most talented rosters in years?

I suppose I disagree with the "prominent" coach theory. But, everyone has an opinion.

Are you keeping up? Ed Orgeron is the man. We'll fail even worse but pay half the price. Who isn't up for that?

Exactly. It's not like Jimbo has a bad job now. Any rational human with leverage for a job he has to move for would ask for extra incentives.

I don't understand why this bothers people. Alleva didn't pull the trigger on Les a month into the season just to end up losing his #1 target over auxiliary shite.

I have to caution myself in my desire for Jimbo, because oftentimes in sports, the following happens:

-the "lukewarm" or non-sexy hire has success (see Dabo, see Saban/LSU, see Miles/LSU, see Caroll/USC)

-the home run sexy hire fails (see Muschamp/Florida, see KK/TxTech, see RichRod/Mich)

All of the opinions and speculation and talk is fun, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what we think of the hire... All that matters is what that hire does on the field in next season's 12-15 games and beyond.

I want Jimbo, and believe he is the best available candidate for the job. That said, whoever get the job (Jimbo, Fedora, O, Herman, whoever), I can guarantee that I won't be "turning in my LSU fan card" and will hope that whoever it is has success here and gets the job done on the field,

Exactly. If money is no object, why not go after Saban or Meyer? Make them say NO to $10M-$15M a year. Give them housing stipends, vehicle allowances, free food at every restaurant, hell, money is no object. Jimbo will lose to Saban and people will be screaming, "Why'd we pay him that much?" I'll simply remind them, "What does it matter, it's not your money....."

I'm pretty sure O is one of those coaches.

Maybe LSU should hire Aranda and bring Applewhite home.

Give them four years, see what happens.

Throw in a house for each of them.

Just curious...do your sources know each other, or do you discuss anything with one source you heard from another?

Just wondering if you've "cross examined" these guys to see which one you think is right. Which one do you see as more reliable or more of an "insider"?

Housing stipend? And he's making $6 mill a year? That's ridiculous. Like he can't afford housing? LSU would be stupid to give in to his every demand.
If the alternative is Ed Orgeron, you take it on the fricking chin. If you want to play with the big boys, you have to pay like a big boy.
