I think all this discounting of Herman is idiotic. He goes from the hottest prospective coach to someone no one wants due to a few bad games at Houston? His players at Houston have checked out. Everyone knows Herman is gone after this year. It is hard to motivate and inspire when the players know the coach is leaving. I don't believe Texas is a lock to fire Strong. Plus, even if they did fire Strong, we really don't know how Herman feels about the LSU job vs Texas. I think it should be 50/50 between Herman and Jimbo, and coach O a distant third. If Jimbo wants too much, go after Herman. I'm thinking Herman will definitely listen and he is a damn good coach.

If LSU is such a landing spot, why negotiate with Jimbo over such trivial issues as living expense? If the guy is going to be paid over $5 million a year, screw him for asking more for "living expenses." I'd give him the finger and put all the focus on Herman. Remember, the coach works for LSU, LSU doesn't work for the coach!

That's cute.

Jimbo has all the leverage right now. Either stuck with O or risk losing Herman to UT. Make me happy.

Exactly my point. If LSU is such a destination to land, why give in to him and give him that much leverage? Herman should be our first choice anyway....

If Orgeron is the head coach next year, Joe should be fired. This will turn into Les 2.0
I have zero confidence that he will develop a QB. We will be right back here in 3 years

The admin and the money need to get on the same page here and quick.

Does LSU want to win championships? If so, pay your number 1 target with the championships on his resume what he wants. Period.

Give him 6M. Give him the housing stipend. Give him bonus incentives for #1 recruiting classes, conference championships and playoff appearances.

Sticky family situation, find a way to fix it. Period.

Anything less with the time we've had to get organized as it relates to this coaching search is fireable.

Housing stipend? And he's making $6 mill a year? That's ridiculous. Like he can't afford housing? LSU would be stupid to give in to his every demand.

Sounds like our administration is retarded and our money knows what's up. Who has final say in that situation?

If I were Jimbo, there's no way in hell I wait for LSU to decide between me and Ed Orgeron. If I got wind that LSU was 50/50 on me, I'd tell them to take a hike. He's a top 5 highest paid coach in the country. Florida State fans are over there kissing his arse. Especially right now. He doesn't need this shite. He's not coming unless we're all in. This will destroy this deal.

Would you let something as stupid as a measly housing stipend stand in the way of you and your next SEC championship?

Didn't think so.

The guy is probably dropping at least 200K a year on treatment for his kid. What's wrong with putting that money back into his pocket?

Good. If he's going to be so greedy to ask for a housing stipend with a $6M salary, I'd say :double bird:

Can anyone not see the absurdity in asking for a housing stipend?

If I were Jimbo I would tell you and anyone else bitching goodbye. This program is making some asinine mistakes.

And where did that become a problem for LSU? He would be making $6M a year. Let that sink in....

You should really ask Steve Kragthorpe for his opinion on your comment.

I could see demands if he's making $1.5M, we're talking $6M plus other incentives. Are you kidding me. He needs a housing stipend??

Who cares? This whole cfb industry is a joke anyway. Maybe it has something to do with his alimony. If people are willing to spend the money, so be it.

The point is you do what it takes to get him here.

Once he's here and you renew his contract then you can replace the stipend with other incentives.

Because fans like me see a problem with giving the "house" to a coach? I can see a different opinion regarding the hiring of Jimbo will be met with the same opposition as those idiots protesting Trump.....

It could be for his ex when she and the kids come to town. It's not that absurd to think he'd ask for what he can to make this move as easy as possible for the sake of his family.
