THIS! It’s clear that he’s already made up his mind. What was he supposed to do? Announce it to the sideline reporter while he’s still down on the field? Right before he goes into the locker room to be with good team? And then go experience constant harassment while wearing his son’s game? Of course not.
Yes, if he were really torn, he would take more time. Instead, he just weaved himself to an easier/safer time and location to make his announcement.
If he were returning, he had the perfect time and environment to make that announcement and fire everyone up. But he didn’t…
I think it’s pretty clear.

I think that’s the correct call. Even if they don’t, I don’t like announcing it early before our game with Oklahoma. It would overshadow the game, and I don’t think that’s fair to the players for each team. With all the shite the remaining LSU players and staff have had to deal with, beating OU on the road to knock them out of the playoffs and pull an 8-4 regular somehow out of their arse, would be commendable and should have at least some window to celebrate it without talking about Lane.
And OU, after a bad season last year, a brutal schedule this year, an injury to their QB, etc…if they can pull a 10-2 regular season and likely playoff berth out of their asses, they deserve to be celebrated and not distracted or overshadowed by Lane’s early decision. Give this game a window, small as it may be, to focus on the players and what the winner accomplished. The Lane circus isn’t going anywhere. It can be delayed an hour or 2.

They’re reporting what they’re allowed to post without making the actual announcement. They’ve been given their marching orders. This is how they have to handle it.

How reliable is Shea?
Normally he'll be confident and do the normal jig to get everyone hype. Then, at the last minute, he'll say things changed and he's wrong. Covers his bases.
