Has any team had a legitimate shot at hiring him away from Bama? When he was at LSU, the NFL came calling every year.

No, what’s he got to lose? He’s created a dynasty and currently being paid $11.4 million this year

Texas almost had him. It was a lot closer than many know.

He doesn’t need money. His legacy is set. Why would he go anywhere else ?

A move at this point would be a mistake and he knows it. He doesn't have enough time or energy to rebuild a program elsewhere, and it would make him look weak to attempt it and fail.

He won't leave Bama where everything is in place and he is worshipped like Jesus himself.

Why would Nick go anywhere else? He made the best decision to stay put.

Don’t matter he will retire after this year according to the real estate agents

Saban was more likely to go into television than take the Texas job back in December 2013.

Yeah, I love how LSU fans, who can't even find Tuscaloosa on a map, have better sources than those of us with actual connections to the program.

To be fair, I'd think most people in the United States couldn't find Tuscaloosa on a map.

Don't you know? He coached there twenty years ago for a few years so they know him far better than we do.

It's like I told a Texas guy I knew at the time who kept crowing about how if Texas wanted him, Texas would get him: Texas could spend more money on football than Alabama. Alabama will spend more money on football than Texas.

The Texas bull shite never happened.

Texas never made a run at him.

All of this was just a few bored little losers and their keyboards.

Still is.

When Jimmy Sexton is your agent you never really know how serious anything is. I don't think he's ever come terribly close to taking another job but he may have considered it a couple of times. I don't think the egos of the Texas big money boosters were ready to step out of the way, and he just wasn't going to go somewhere that he didn't have total autonomy and control.

Not sure if I'm in the minority of Alabama fans or not, but I don't think he's got more than a couple years left, and him stepping out after this season wouldn't surprise me. He seems to be lining up a lot of stuff in South Florida for a retirement.

My understanding is that he was substantially underwater in some real estate dealings. Texas boosters were offering to take over the losses in order to get him to come. Despite the initial sticker shock, a handful of Bama boosters took it over instead, so he stayed. I am to believe that the investment was in the mid-high 8 figures.
