its not an active search as in...we are about to lose/fire our OC, we are interviewing....

its a search of....what does Coach X think of the situation at LSU should an OC opening occur, what would it take to get Coach X at LSU should an opening occur..

more like getting ducks in a row if Crowton leaves...which is 60/40 against at best right now....

Miles is 100% focused on making a statement against A&M and wants his staff 100% focused on the same...

I don't have any good contacts on the players but it seems that they are amped to play A&M...

Jesus Christ. Miles needs to pony up the money that he cost this university by hiring that moron.

The athletic department is not going to pay Crowton 400 K then pay another OC at least 300 K. They're not going to do it. Sorry.

I'm sure Athletemed has some good connects, as do I. And I know that's the MAIN holdup

Miles did the same shite last year, having a cup of coffee with F Cignetti, and talking to others. Yet it comes down to money.

Please Miles for the sake of everyone, just cough up the 400k out of your own pocket and put us all out of our misery lol.

So if we can't find him another job, he stays. Right? If so, that's fricking bullshite. If Miles is scared to fire the guy due to his "loyalty", there are about 500k others who would be willing to show Crowton to door and help him move far away from Louisiana.

700-800k is pretty cheap if it could result in a championship run. frick auburn is willing to pay an OC 1+mil to win and our admins are bitching about buying out an inept OC whose qbs combined for 6 passings TDs? fricking great.

This all day long. Does Miles' contract have any incentives based on getting to SECC Games or bowl games? If so, just invest 500k to get Crowton canned so you can make that money right back due to bonuses with a good OC hire. Let LSU pay the new OC's salary just as if they were gonna be paying Crowton. Oh well, I've already come to grips with the fact Crowton is probably coming back.

I know this is a stupid question, but discussion about it came up on the rant the other day.

Would the outcome of this "statement" game have any affect on the job security of Crowton?

I'd hope not. The last 3 years should be enough of a sample size. To be honest, if it means we could get a new OC, I could give a frick about playing Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Besides preseason position, it means very little.

Well, then the athletic department is apparently willing to waste another year.

Sounds like Miles is trying to get rid of Crowton, but the money is holding everything up just like last year.

If LSU is gonna win championships again, we're gonna have to be willing to spend money. You know how much money Auburn spent on their last recruiting class?

If it means getting rid of Crowton I'd gladly pay $40 for parking instead of $20 next season. I'm sure many will as well

Been the belief of most of us for over a year. Crowton isn't leaving unless he wants to.

So, here's where we are:

*Same situation as last year - Crowton might leave, but only if he gets another gig or leaves for non-football reasons (retires)

*OC search is taking place, but is a "what if Crowton leaves" search

*Admins are not willing to pay buyout for a coordinator. Period.

*Miles is being shown a little humility for getting his coordinators better contracts when they might not have deserved them - by having him live with the contract or work his arse off to get them to leave sans a buyout.
