Plan WAS to hire Orgeron next week

Per the dellenger article (and a source i have, but i won't spread rumors) before the florida loss the plan was to hire Orgeron this wednesday.
Why would we hire Orgeron before the season is over and before interviewing Herman or Fisher?
Unless:
1. We know we don't have the money for these guys
2. They have already told us no
And dont tell me Orgeron was higher on our list then they are

Smoke and mirrors.
O was never getting this job. He was only included in the mix to motivate O and the team and the fans and to keep their promise to O that he would be a legit candidate.
And the smoke and mirrors will continue for a couple more days because we still have a game that the program needs to win.
LSU has a vested interest in making it clear to everyone, O included, that he's still a possible candidate. But in reality, everyone knows deep down that the only way he's getting this job is for all hell to break lose and LSU get turned down by our Top3-4.
FWIW, I also think O's semi-success and support gave the administration a live, breathing, reasonable smokescreen for the real target(s) as well.

A lot of what has come out has happened since the loss. What's the value in floating a rumor that Orgeron was going to be hired but now he's not?

If we can't get the top 3 or 4 coaches on our list then why not give O a shot , he was handcuffed with a less than mediocre offensive staff , let him put his own staff in place and see what he can do ....

Dellenger tweeted that there was "no search" prior to the Florida loss, because they were simply going to give the job to Orgeron.
Now, they're apparently starting the search, although Orgeron is still a candidate, and will be interviewed on Friday.
The incompetence of Alleva and others in the administration is truly astounding.
