The job was Os with only a loss to Bama.

This is why we are just now talking to Herman and Jimbo.

A lot of what has come out has happened since the loss. What's the value in floating a rumor that Orgeron was going to be hired but now he's not?

1) Misinformation to masquerade that they had a number 1 A and 1 B locked up in principle but needed to get numbers finalized. 2) To hide another candidate who has emerged and surpassed the original 1 A and 1 B. Intention is to appear stupid and short sighted to hide a chess game vs. a checkers game going on in the background. 3) On a side note, some dark comedy to appease the Bubba, Boudreau and Thibodoux crowd that their hero was really being considered. They are a part of Tiger Nation too (and like the Capstone's PR dept who has to appeal the Gumpnecks and inbreds in their fan base) have to throw out little giblets of needless self confirmation.

I dont get the downvotes. Im just trying to put this together without my lsu glasses on.

Why would smoke and mirrors be neccessary? They released this info after the florida game. When are shot at any decent bowl game is gone. Is it that important to motivate the team before A&M?

I think yall are reaching. The options I laid out are much more plausible

O was never getting this job. He was only included in the mix to motivate O and the team and the fans and to keep their promise to O that he would be a legit candidate.

Geez, I hope you are right, but I think I have seen enough evidence over the past few years to suggest we are not that smart.

I can only hope, b/c that is the smart thing to do.

If anyone from LSU asserts that, they are flat out lying. And I understand why they would be lying, but nonetheless it's a lie.

LSU has 100% had discussions with both Jimbo and Herman's camp before LSU lost to Florida.

Don't have my LSU glasses on and just speaking from experience on how business people use mind games to achieve their greater goals. It could be a case of short sightedness, laziness and giving into PR pressure. Or, it could be a masquerade. We will see.....

Well, what's the "plan" now, according to your "source".

Dellenger tweeted that there was "no search" prior to the Florida loss, because they were simply going to give the job to Orgeron. Now, they're apparently going to start a search

So you are saying they would hire Orgeron without talking to any other coaches??

Hahaha there is absolutely no way. There were already articles stating that we have talked to mulitple coaches and have been doing so since Miles was fired

Bingo.

It's clear as day to me. I'd bet my house that LSU is not "scrambling" at this point. There has been a plan in the works for months.

They were about to give this job to Orgeron without talking with any other coaches.

If contract negotiations with Jimbo become even mildly difficult, I fully expect Alleva and the others to abandon the deal and give the job to Orgeron.

Yes, they're that incompetent.

I don't need the information i was told to infer what i posted in the OP. It just confirmed what was said in the article before the article came out. It was from a BOS member.

I don't usually get info and don't expect to get anymore in the future. So i dont have anything for you

Firing Miles that early in the season was a sign of strength. There is just no way they make that decision without a strategy already in place to find his successor, including contingencies for if Orgeron were to win out (lol).

First of all we/nobody knows who was floating these supposed rumors. If there's anything we should've learned during this past election cycle about the media it's that they're manipulative, a bunch of liars, and have no shame in pushing their propaganda.

I don't care what anyone says, until Joe Aleva makes the announcement of who the next coach is, everything is pure speculation. O was given their word that he'd be considered for the job and I'd have done the same thing. We needed stability and O brought that.

It's only the media reporting their propaganda about O. Nowhere did I hear anyone of relevance at LSU say that the job is O's.

And the smoke and mirrors will continue for a couple more days because we still have a game that the program needs to win.

Here's one problem with that line of reasoning: it assumes that the same administration which mangled the close of last season has improved so radically that it can now execute subtle misdirection on par with the Allied landing at Pas de Calais.

That said, hope you are right.

I wish I could believe this. I want to believe it. But when you take a look at Alleva, as well as some of the people he is surrounding himself with to make this decision (which probably includes King), you start to come to the conclusion that they really are lost at this point - especially when you factor in how last season ended.

Whether it is true or not it is a moot point, unless the "fix was in" after the performance by the team on Saturday no way Orgeron gets the job. And if the "fix is in" and Orgeron is still named the coach you can bet Alleva is the first one to go!

Or it was payback by Alleva for being handcuffed from doing his job the year before. You think Herman and Jimbo showed serious interest before the 4th game of the season? Unlikely

I think the "Holgorsen leak" in itself shows that there's disinformation being put out there.

If they were scrambling and didn't have their guy, there'd be no reason to be putting disinformation out there.., they'd be busy enough scrambling for information to worry about puttin out disinformation.
