Bingo. It's clear as day to me. I'd bet my house that LSU is not "scrambling" at this point. There has been a plan in the works for months.

Another analogy is when Bama went through their last coaching search. At the time there were some stories floated that Rich Rod was their prime target and would have been coach if he wasn't such a D-bag and did not sign his contract. That was baloney. The REC had Saban targeted from the beginning when Sexton planted news that he was not happy in S. FL. But Saban would not OK Sexton to be proactive until December.

As duly noted by Bama posters on here, Mal Moore was under pressure to at least have something in principle soon or a viable 1 A candidate without formally committing to anything until they could get Saban's full attention. But Saban was always their number one. They used Finebaum and their PR machine to spread misinformation about Rich Rod and plant him in a negative light to irritate him and his agent. Then gave him a hollow deal that no one in his position would sign. Then everyone was getting fed back channels that Saban was the real target.

This was to throw Rich Rod under the bus and make it appear that Saban was blind luck for them. Gave the savior image another angle. And hide how calculating they are. REC works behind the scenes. I mean if there ever was an NSA/CIA/Illuminati of CFB booster they are it!!! Don't want folks to know what strings they can really pull.

Here's one problem with that line of reasoning: it assumes that the same administration which mangled the close of last season has improved so radically that it can now execute subtle misdirection on par with the Allied landing at Pas de Calais. That said, hope you are right.

News flash. Jindal is no longer around to meddle. John Bell is neutral this time or at least so far. Fielding King tried to stop CLM's firing and was given a thinly veiled threat and told to F off (basically what Emmert did to Joe Dean when his last gasp was trying to keep Dinardo's job). Jacobs has been quiet and the leaks have been apparently taken care of. New year, different circumstances.

I think it's also worth pointing out that by keeping O in the public talks helps to "set the bar low" and manage expectations.

By making the puclic believe O is legitimately an option, you set yourself up for the fanbase to be happy or thrilled with basically anyone besides O. It helps set the stage for a United fanbase behind whoever the hire is.

There are many, many, many reasons to keep O in the "puclic" conversation as a legit candidate.

I don't believe for one second that there was no search before the Fla game.

Yeah, zero chance. And if they're even implying that to be the case, they're feeding people BS... Which means they're feeling good, because only someone in a position of strength has the ability or time to "play games"

This is where you are wrong. If he beats Florida there are many LSU fans that would have preferred him over Jimbo/Herman. And none of them would have been thrilled about hiring anyone but O. O losing and UT being open to hire Herman, gives Jimbo the easiest path to come to LSU with open arms from the fan base. Many LSU fans aren't thrilled with a Jimbo hire, no matter how ridiculous that sounds.

it's the same shite that saved Les last year, the stupid and embarrassing public sentiment that Alleva and the rest of those idiots hold so dearly to their hearts.

Probably the same people that held up I love les miles signs last year held up the coach o signs this year.

Per the dellenger article (and a source i have, but i won't spread rumors) before the florida loss the plan was to hire Orgeron this wednesday.

If this was the case, why did our #1 QB recruit say ""Jimbo most likely going to be at LSU" and he was going to attend the LSU FL game with a 5 star RB, that "was" high on FSU ??.. that tells me SOMEONE (who probably trumps your source) told this QB it was Jimbo

I would announce o as hc but not divulge contract. If he does not pan out after a year, move on. He would be a great story and maybe he could hit the jackpot.

Again, I don't need what i was told to come to my conclusion. It's laid out in the dellenger article and being talked about by others on the radio.

And if your "source" is an 18 year old recruit who hasn't stepped foot on campus, maybe you want to reconsider how confident you are.

I dont get the downvotes

Probably because you linked an article that was already being discussed with a bullshite topic title--"Plan to hire Orgeron next week " as if it was new and breaking news.

I linked the same article with an accurate and concise headline: "Dellenger implies Orgeron Alleva's first choice--Fla. Loss complicates things."

Learn to write accurate thread titles.

Your thread should be whacked first, because it's germans and second, because of the bullshite, inaccurate, and misleading title.

No, he's flat out wrong. Alleva wanted O. Has to pony up for Fisher/Herman now. Did not want to.

Alleva needs to be fired. If he had any self respect he would have resigned after last year debacle. He's gonna get canned either way, at least he could have saved face by leaving last year.

I agree Alleva should be fired for trying to back door us with O and the miles crP last year. They have already been talking to candidates though so this is disinformation which is why I think his first choice already agreed to contract which is Jimbo. He wouldn't throw this crap out their unless they were confident they got there guy imo

Smoke and mirrors.

O was never getting this job. He was only included in the mix to motivate O and the team and the fans and to keep their promise to O that he would be a legit candidate.

And the smoke and mirrors will continue for a couple more days because we still have a game that the program needs to win.

LSU has a vested interest in making it clear to everyone, O included, that he's still a possible candidate. But in reality, everyone knows deep down that the only way he's getting this job is for all hell to break lose and LSU get turned down by our Top3-4.

FWIW, I also think O's semi-success and support gave the administration a live, breathing, reasonable smokescreen for the real target(s) as well.

bingo. it gave us INSURANCE. HUGE INSURANCE. DEEP INSURANCE.

DOes anybody really believe IF jimbo and herman told us no that we could not get Fedora or Gundy or Fuente?

Exactly. O was there only if everybody above turned us down of which the chances are slim to NONE!

If we can't get the top 3 or 4 coaches on our list then why not give O a shot , he was handcuffed with a less than mediocre offensive staff , let him put his own staff in place and see what he can do ....

that is of course we can't get Jimbo or Herman ....
No. No it's not. Stop it. Stop it now. You don't know what you're doing. For the love of God please stop.
