well technically he is the interim coach as well since aranda is the associate coach

Only LSU fans would bitch about him being successful, too.

lsu fans bitch about everything.

We had Jimbo here and no one accused him of opening up the offense. They (as well as I) screamed predictable offense that underperformed. How soon we forget.

What if CEO doesn't work out? Fans will be furious, they'll call for allevas head of the chopping block and say other things like this coach wasn't the right choice and wasn't ready for big time SEC football.
The good thing about your question is you are getting the answer right now every Saturday. What have you seen from LSU's program that makes you question whether CEO will work out?

But if I had to I would go with the proven track record of success, whether it be Herman
So for coach O you state "this coach wasn't the right choice and wasn't ready for big time SEC football." But you think the guy who is about to finish the season 3-4 in the American conference with a team more talented than all but one team they will face should be hired before the guy who will probably finish 6-1 in the SEC.

The offense is still entirely dependent on the running backs breaking off big runs. Stuff the line and our offense does literally nothing, see Bama game.
Time management issues by Orgeron.
We have beaten one team with a winning record and have beaten them solely because our talent is better. As soon as we lined up with a team that matches our talent, we couldn't even score a single point.

i want to see how he can fix the offensive philosophy, he hasnt had the time to fix that when les got canned.
I think this is a key, depending on the definition of "philosophy" (as used). there is nothing wrong with our present system as long as it can spread out the defense enough to both run and pass. what this offense needs is........
1-a better pass blocking OL
2-a better QB
3-a coordinated passing attack that can move the chains consistently and when needed. this, of course, requires the first two

How about the fact that his best qualities are that he practices less and doesn't coach offense or defense.
Basically we want to hire him because he doesn't coach.

Who are you referring to? Herman is 8-2.

-He has won every game he was supposed to win so far.
-He beat two teams that were in the top 25 at the time he was playing them.
-He has broken offensive records with an average QB and average offensive game plan (Same offense that was awful to begin the year)
-He admits when he is wrong and he has shown that he is willing to change and adjust to correct these wrongs (Ole Miss HC philosophy)
-Players love him and they are willing to work hard under his leadership
-Over 30 years of coaching experience
-Has plenty of support from his fan base (more important than you think)
-Recruiting mastermind
-He has faith in his coaching staff and lets them do their job. LSU has suffered with HC stubbornness the last few years.
-Many top tier head coaches have respected his coaching ability and understand that he is very talented at the position he is in
I like lists..
But honestly, why not take a chance on him? Spend the extra money on hiring an impressive OC and see how the program responds. There are no "must get" coaches available right now. He has exceeded his expectations and deserves every right to have a shot at becoming the next head coach.

Pete Jenkins is our D-Line coach. O is the interim head coach.

This is not based on the quality of QB's and archaic offense run by Les and Cam? Do you expect O to fix both of these problems in only five weeks on the job.

Has been exceptional, except for the Bama game.

Well maybe when they get better players and have winning records we will only beat them by 17 points instead of the 29 point average in the four wins since O took over. The games will at least be more interesting then.

Alabama has more talent than LSU. That is not a question. LSU played Bama closer than anyone else they have faced. They did so with a TE's coach running the offense. If LSU can improve that position they will have a very good chance of outscoring Alabama and their buddies (the refs).

Did Les coach? If the answer to my question is "yes", then the answer to your question is yes.

Yes, it should have been 3-4 and not 4-7. The 4-7 is what Kiffin's record was at USC before coach O took over and went 6-2.
The 3-4 is what Herman's record will be in the last 7 games of Houston's season if he does indeed lose to Louisville this week and Memphis next week, to go along with his losses to Navy and SMU.
I corrected my OP before you posted this.

We just fired Les.

Re-posting this, Aranda post Arkansas game
Dude is just like Saban. Can't enjoy a win due to a mistake or two in a blowout. I want someone like this at the helm.

Is there a better duo to topple bama than Petrino and Aranda?
I hate the guy but I hate losing to bama more

Not totally sold on whether I want Coach O or not. I do agree with a poster above that posted that there really may not be any home-run hires available this year.
Les wasn't beating SEC opponents by an average of 27 points. I think O has proven to not be like Les in just 5 games of running the program. Can he do even better with a whole off-season to prepare and an OC who wasn't just promoted from TE's coach?

And if that D line coach went only lost to alabama (kept them scoreless through 3 quarters) and has broken offensive records every game but 1, is he all that bad?
