re: Is there a spot for Honey Badger on our new defensive coaching staff?

Didn't Patrick Peterson have to be his keeper at Arizona? He had a troubled past at LSU as well. Sometimes those are the best teachers as they have made many mistakes that they can use to motivate young players to not make. That being said, I'd go with analyst first and see how he works with the kids and game plans for Saturdays. If he shows promise, then move him up at some point.
Saban has struggled against good dual threat QB's in the past...

Johnny Manzel, Cam Newton and even Joe Burrow kept some drives alive against bama. Not to mention JD's legs getting us some crucial first downs last year. I like what JD brings to the table this year with being able to get the ball downfield to our stud wide receivers. We can stretch the field which is a great advantage over Saban's D (lol). I've not felt this good about our chances playing bama since 2019. The defense just needs to not bad...but that's a topic for another post.

Supposedly Smith and Perkins were going to be difference makers this year, but this too hasn't proven to be true. I have no idea how such dominant players were neutered so bad by the coaching staff that they seem almost irrelevant compared to the hype coming into the season. :spank:
What's the word on Lacy?
Posted by Spankem on 9/18/23 at 3:31 pm
I don't think I even saw him on the field...like ever. I'm assuming he's in the doghouse for several dropped passes but haven't heard any official statements about it.

Does Perkins playing like classic Perkins win us the fsu game?
I think putting perc pressure on that QB would have definitely helped our cause for sure. I didn't really buy the excuse that CBK gave us at the end of the game.

Do they seriously refer to LSU fans as corn dogs? :rotflmao:

Obviously we all felt that he was neutered during the Florida State game when he wasn't put in position to make the plays (dropping back in coverage a lot) that we saw him make last year when he was edge rushing and blitzing a lot. What's your thoughts on how he was used against Miss St?
Sorry if Germans, this is the first I've been on TD and didn't see any threads the past couple of pages.

I would have kept one, possibly two drives going this past weekend if we had.

IDK why LSU thinks we need to prove anything by playing these week 1 games. No other top programs consistently do it.
Saban would never do such a thing, and for good reason. Never show your hand until you have too.

Many players didn't play well this past weekend. No doubt they will appear to play better (against much less talented players) thus restoring their confidence.
The thing that I really want to see is some of the guys that didn't get a chance to prove themselves this past weekend. This team has a lot of 4 and even 5* talent that didn't see the field the other night. Our talent should overpower our lack of good coaching decisions.
There is no doubt that this loss will sting for a long time, but most improvement is supposed to happen from week 1 to week 2. We shall see. Getting a win will hopefully work towards righting the ship. :geauxtigers:

I'm a huge Thomas fan. He's big target. I do recall a drop though. May be wrong...there were many.

Fair enough. I didn’t read all the threads.
No worries man. Folks will pop in all day long not realizing what was talked about already. That's why I gave you the general consensus comment. TD is always salty and after a deplorable loss...really salty...like dead sea salty.

Should they move him back to edge when he did well last season or let him still figure out ILB?
The general consensus in the other 30 threads on the subject is that it was abysmal what Kelly did to neuter Perkins ability to be a game changer.
re: JD needs to turn himself into a WR/RB Percy Harvin hybrid type or Taysom Hill

Nuss needs to get a chance. I'm not sure JD has the ability to change. He's had a year and a half in this offense to show us something.
re: Nuss and JD
Posted by Spankem on 9/5/23 at 9:33 am
JD holds the ball too long and can't get it downfield to the recievers.
Nuss throws into crowds and gets intercepted more.
JD get's nominted at a preseason Heisman Candidate, but proves to not have improved much at all.
Nuss doesn't get a chance to prove anything.
Did I miss anyting?

PLay Perkins where he can actually help the team. :dunno:
re: What really frustrates me about the loss

Lining up on shotgun for a 4th and 6 inches play will do that to you.
