Sure he has won every game he was supposed to win but we haven't really played anyone have we? I'm not blaming O for that but with the offensive talent we have we're setting records with an unproven OC. Imagine if we had someone like a Jimbo Fisher to open up the offense. We could compete with Bama year after year

I understand the optimism of looking at Jimbo as a savior for offense-- but his team and his coaching don't look so great this year-- losing by 50?!?!? His team cannot compete with Bama now. Not sure he could do it consistently if he were at LSU.

Hate to crash yoour guys' board. I know that is taboo, but don't get behind this O thing. As a survivor of the "Mike" coaching years at UA, I can tell you this favorite son shite will wreck your program.

Good luck with it.....

so lsu fans want the Houston coach who has underwhelmed this year...and a retread in Jimbo Fisher without an NFL QB (Jameis Winston) running his offense has looked average the last 2 years. I like O. Give him a 3 year contract and lets see what happens.

The main problem with O is this, he will dependent on a good OC and DC. What happens with good coordinators? The get HC jobs. So every few years we would have to make new hires hoping the work out.

Fiddlehead, I don't give a rats arse what those teams do.Next I guess your gonna tell us that none of the mentioned teams have ever taken a chance on a coach? Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, but Coach O deserves a year or two. Bottom line is, this team went toe to toe with the best in the country and competed at a high level. I welcome the fact that they were competitive. How many teams ever beat Nick Saban? Coach O and his team had Nicky pissed and nervous

Saban loses coordinators all the time. Its a matter of being able to make the right hire. Everyone complained because Les was constantly meddling with the offense, so your saying you want another LM type coach? You pay big $$$ for coordinators. Let them do their job.

The biggest case for argument is if he works out as an interim headcoach and his application of change in the program works. what would it look like as the HC next season? Would this same style translate into wins? Everyone keeps saying anyone can win in Death Valley, anyone can recruit in Louisiana, but what if the home run higher doesn't work out. What if CEO doesn't work out? Fans will be furious, they'll call for allevas head of the chopping block and say other things like this coach wasn't the right choice and wasn't ready for big time SEC football.

So I honestly am torn between hiring Coach O and hiring a big name with an offensive mind. I'm glad I'm not making the decision.

But if I had to I would go with the proven track record of success, whether it be Herman, Fisher, Petersen, etc.

What an arrogant, myopic viewpoint! An argument could be made either way, but I would assert that Ed has experience in leading teams.

Aranda has never been head coach at any level. Besides, the administration would make it a priority to keep both in a scenario where Ed assumed the role full time.

Saban doesn't even need a DC though.

Who thought that ole miss, Arkansas, and A&M would be bad teams at the end of the season is the better question.

Everyone complained about les because he had no clue how to run an offense and he was running our offense.

Saban is the DC at bama so he only has to worry about making one homerun hire at OC. It's a big difference when a coach has nothing to fall back on because he's not elite on one side of the ball. O has to constantly make great hires at DC and OC. To get them both right all the time will be difficult and I don't see Aranda staying of O is hired.

No one should ever be promoted because of where they start.

You own a business. You have a spot to fill. You have a friend that needs a job, he is a great guy full of energy, the life of the party and everyone likes him. It is a very important job, one that if not done correctly could ruin your business. You have a stack of resumes and you have 4 or 5 that you have looked over. They all have proven records, lots of experience, the right credentials and have succeeded at their current jobs. Remember, this is your lively hood, your wife and kids and lots of other people are relying on you to make the right move. What do you do?
