Updating the topic title since the info was wrong.

But as of today, there's a lot of smoke that Pete and Ole Miss have agreed in principle to a deal, 3 years 1.5 mil

I mean... don't pay $2 million for a DC when Matt Luke is your head coach.

Ole miss fans will know the LSU feeling of having your DC be the best coach on the entire staff. It sucks.

That seems like a poor decision

Lol exactly. Folks saying they shouldn't are hypocrites. Should we pay to have Aranda or do you trust Eaux without him

I wouldn’t do it if I were Golding.

He has nothing to work with over there as far as talent and they will be feeling the hit on the numbers for another year or two even after sanctions are over because the missing players leave holes in your roster until the replacements get a year or two of experience.

It was only like 11 schollies over a 4 year period and that ended with last years class. The sanctions weren’t that big

Well the difference is Aranda was much more proven when we poached him and we didn’t give him 2 mil off the bat to come here, he earned that raise.

Not to mention, if the talent gaps are as bad as Ole Miss fans are claiming, this guy will be out on the street with Luke by 2020.

Bama went through this under Shula.

Its not certain death if you are stacked with talent prior to the sanctions and are able to recruit effectively, but your margin for error becomes zero.

Bama didn't have either going for them and it took Nick Saban three classes years after the fact to get us back to an elite level.

Ole Miss is going to struggle unless something changes dramatically.

I'd wait for a potential offer from Oklahoma if I were him

Golding will be the DC outright at Bama soon. I can't see Tosh staying for more than another year or so.

Earlier this year I heard in our LSU-OM pregame show that OM defense had fewer 3, 4, 5 stars than any team in the SEC including Vandy...

Golding may get as much as 1.5 million to stay at Alabama as co-DC. It may be worth it to wait it out. Ole Miss is too big of a risk right now. Luke is not going to last past 2020.

All this is likely moot if Oklahoma offers him.

I’ve heard that Oklahoma running a distant 3rd. Luke job is safer than people make it out to be. Golding has a chance to have complete control over an SEC defense while making 2 million a year in his wife’s home state. He could also stay at Bama for probably a little over a million and be in line for head coaching jobs soon.

I think he stays but he has not made up his mind

Wikipedia says he’s already taken the job: LINK

Someone edited it back to Bama.
