Pete was quite the character at Delta State from my understanding. Most I know that know him are very surprised at his level of success coaching college ball. He wasn’t known to be super bright.

A pretty good sauce from his early years told me he has good football smarts.

I'd seriously start to question those smarts if he came to Ole Miss except for stupid guaranteed money.

He was apparently quite the lady’s man at DSU. Funny enough, he ended up there because he was teammates with a guy named Scott Eyster, who re-wrote the record books at Delta State at QB.

My sauce played on those teams with them, and was also a grad assistant with Golding. I'll ask him about their social lives next time we hang out.

Would not be surprised if MacIntyre is announced today

He was a college defensive coordinator for 2 years at Duke in 2008 and 2009. That's it. But he was a head coach, so maybe they think he can help Luke. Who knows. Any warm body is better than McGriff.

I do get the feeling, however, that this hire was an angle for Macintyre to be hired as our next "interim" head coach after next year.

Wikipedia already says that he's our DC.

RebelGrove says that Ole Miss and Golding have agreed to terms. Neal McCready is pretty good on coaching searches

What a stupid move by Golding if true unless its just some obscene amount of guaranteed money.

I'd wait for a potential offer from Oklahoma if I were him

i would too, waaaaay more stability, same type of outcome on defense, both defenses will get torched may as well go with the better job... Luke is done next season.

I agree. Plus, OU's defense is literally the worst. Considering OU's stability and resources, there is potential to improve it. There's no guarantee of that at Ole Miss.

If Golding remained at Alabama, he's probably the DC within 2 years. That means he'll probably have a choice of Power 5 jobs in the next 5 years.

Don't think an extra million to get fired with Matt Luke is worth it.

His wife went to OM and he has a lot of MS ties. Would be a pretty big pull for Luke. I won’t belive it until it is officially announced.

From what I’ve gathered, Golding hasn’t said no but Ole Miss isn’t close to what they’d need to pony up to make it worth his while. He’s in a good spot to move up quickly as it is. This would come down to stupid money to be a DC.

Let’s remember he was already a DC at UTSA. He came to Alabama to work under Saban and move up the ladder quicker.

Not going to believe it until he’s in oxford with an Ole Miss shirt on. Bama still has time to counter offer.
