OU likes to describe themselves as blue bloods. They claim to have the best AD in the country. It will be interesting to see the staff they assemble.

It could help them prove their assumption, or shoot it down.

They better ask the question of whether the coach is scared to coach in the sec

Blue bood is a loosely defined term and really means nothing outside of certain schools who use it to maintain an erection

Their ex coach has been pummeled by SEC teams in playoffs & he wants no part of that.

Blue blood seems to mean "haven't won anything" in 20+ years save for Bama and Ohio St.

They cling to that moniker because they have little else to salve all of their falling short this century.

OU fan coworker just said he's hearing Venables signed with them, $85m/8yr.

No idea if true or not but solid if so.

Bingo. It’s just mental masturbation. It used to make certain teams feel more important than they really are in today’s football landscape. There ain’t a recruit out there that’s going “I want to go to a blue blood school”. Half of the couldn’t even tell you what a “blue blood school” is.

Oklahoma is a destination job. Let’s not kid ourselves. They will be getting access to traditional SEC recruiting grounds as well.

I am not doubting the historical accomplishments of their program. I just think it will be interesting to see the staff they pull together.

If they are as high and mighty as they proclaim, the staff they attract should leave no doubt in one’s mind.

Lol, are you trying to imply that OU is not a blue blood?

I did not say that. I said that I recognize their historical accomplishments. Call it whatever color you want.

Their recent string of big 12 championships don’t mean that much, especially with texas being down. But the Switzer and Stoops years were impressive. How long do you choose to live in the past.

I just think it will be interesting to see what kind of staff they assemble, which could be indicative of their future success.

Lol, are you implying that being a “blue blood” makes any fricking difference in today’s college football landscape

It is only a loose term amongst non-blue blood fanbases, such as LSU.

It's pretty well defined if you use the Google machine.

Oklahoma has not had a national title in over 20 plus years. If there were a criteria for losing "blue blood" status, I believe Oklahoma has met that criteria.

You obviously have no idea what a blue blood is. In college football it is national championships, total wins, conference championships, Heisman Trophy winners, All-Americans, HOF's, NFL Draft picks over decades and decades.

USC is pretty close to not being a blue blood anymore I'd say. Been almost 2 decades since they've been relevant.
