I believe this.

I think Scott W had his man before he fired O.

He wasn’t going to pressure himself into hiring anybody down the list.

Hence no leaks of any coaching searches.

I think the following are out:

Jimbo
Riley
Tucker

That leaves

Aranda
Napier
Cristobal

I take Dave

Aranda has no proven experience in either. He’s very much a gamble.

Maybe we should hire the guy that developed Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott and Kyle Trask. That is if you don’t mind giving up 52 points to Samford.

You’re literally describing the Les miles LSU teams though.

Baylor’s bad QB play is the only reason Baylor didn’t blow Oklahoma out

First off, they won the game in a convincing fashion

Second, the team with the two 5 star QBs and the “offensive guru” struggled to score twice or even move the ball. In this game, we not only got to see that Dave’s style can still work, but there are inherent limitations to the style we seem so desperate to move to.

In the 4th Q, when Baylor was up 3 and then 10, you could tell they were going to win. The OL was pushing the pile and holding their blocks past the whistle. They expected to win.

This game isn’t just offense vs defense. You have to be prepared to win. Even taking a bunch of L’s last season, Dave’s teams look to be prepared and are always in it. It doesn’t matter if you score 70 one week if you don’t have the toughness to grind one out the next. This is football and you will not win a championship unless you can win 1-2 of those games a year.

Woodward was at LSU before Aranda left for Baylor. With O’s ineptness as a coach, I’m sure Woodward got to know Aranda very well as a man and a coach. My guess is Woodward held him in high esteem and would love to have Aranda coach LSU. Is Aranda the top target, who knows.

Away from Coach O. I believe that, because he wanted to get away from Coach O, not because he wanted to get away from LSU.

Your story would carry more weight if they were bbq buddies as well as elbow rubbers. Really wonder if the expectations at Baylor vs LSU play into his decision, because he was part of 2019 will fans cut him any slack when that’s not recreated immediately.

If Aranda is the hire I believe Dave would keep Jones as DC and as of the last 2 games especially that would be a good move IMO!

Don't know who it is. I don't have sauces. I don't sleep with boosters. I've never been in the athletic department offices. But I've often felt this to be the case. If you're trying to secure the kind of money necessary to get rid of Ogeron and bring in the right HC, you better have a well designed and articulated plan. No one is writing a blank check based on a hope strategy. I believe he's had his guy for a while. The timing of the announcement to fire Ogeron just doesn't make any sense otherwise.

I don't believe there is any way that Aranda is Woodwards top choice. Rumors are Woodward started this process over the summer and Aranda was coming off a 2-7 season with zero evidence of being a good head coach. Most of us felt he would be but no evidence at that point.

I would love Aranda but that would mean other coaches said no. In other words, he's not the top choice you're saying but an actual great consolation prize.

So y’all now want to hire a coach that lost to tcu but had the talent and scheme to beat Oklahoma.

That’s on coaching

This is what this board has turned into . Everyone has a fault

Sure it makes sense , woody new he wanted o gone ,no matter who he had to replace him with . he got it over with early to keep him from winning a few games late and getting the same shite that happened with miles the year before he was fired

That makes me believe what the big money guys were saying even more. Not one member of the media had the baseball search correct.

If woody did that, he's dumber than I thought. Woody is making the hire. Why would he be influenced to change his mind?

But he didn't do it for that reason.
