. Why the hell would he leave a 10-2 Super Bowl contender to go coach at either one of those dumpster fires? That would be one of the worst coaching decisions of all time.

I'm sure the theory is Brees retires after this season and Payton doesn't want to stick around for the rebuild. He could go to a team with a HOF QB or a team with a young QB he really liked in the draft.
He's not leaving Brees to go coach two WORSE teams though.

His reasoning was the same shite we always hear
He’ll leave when Brees retires and if(when) the saints win the super bowl this year Brees will retire and Payton will leave

Also, why would he want to leave the comfort of a dome to freeze his arse off?

I dont know if I am just being optimistic but I dont expect there to be any rebuild at all...
The core group of guys are young and if the Saints resign Bridgewater at the end of the year, I think its all but certain he is the successor to Brees

If Brees retires, this team doesn't have a ton of other question marks. Best o-line in the league, Thomas, Kamara, Ingram as weapons. Defense that seems to finally have turned around with a ton of talent under contract.
I'm not sure there's many places that could offer more right now than us. If he has to integrate with a new QB, why wouldn't he rather do it here with everything else already in place? He'd have to implement a new system with an entire team as opposed to one new player.

Since Aaron Rodgers is so great maybe he can be a player/ coach combo they pay him plenty enough.

We would have to trade him right?

Hell if we’re speculating throw in Les Miles and ElPrez for the Packers and Browns jobs.
I mean I can name a name and call it a “report” too, Florio.

That is correct, Payton is under contract through the 2020 season.
Nola Article about his contract

He might leave when Brees does... but it's not going to be to coach another NFL team.

Does he finally take the Michigan job?

The saints are structuring contracts and draft picks to basically go all in on a superbowl run this year at the expense of the next three years. Sean knowing that the Saints have little to no chance at doing anything great for a while will make the move to a team that has the capacity for greatness before he retires.

I don't see the Pack or Browns being that team.
The Pack has Rodgers and that's about it.
The Browns have talent but have a monkey fricking a football as the owner.

He wasn't "reporting" anything. He just said that he could see current NFL coaches being interested in leaving their jobs to go coach a team with a better QB situation. He just threw out Sean Payton as an example if Brees retires and Payton decides he wants to try to be the first coach to win a Super Bowl with two teams. He wasn't saying its going to happen.

He wanted the Packers job 13 years ago and the Packers snubbed him. They hired Mike McCarthy instead and the Saints hired him 6 days later. They had their chance. Payton is not going anywhere.
