. . .with a 10-foot pole?!?!

Miles and Orgeron were both hired when there wasn't really anyone else banging down their door asking them to be their head coach. Post-LSU, we've already seen what a dumpster fire Miles' career has been and pretty sure Ed O's career is going to be in a downward spiral from here on out too (if he even decides to be a head coach again since he has enough money to by a few hamburgers). Both won national championships because of the talent pool and assistant coaches....but if LSU is such a top job in CFB, why has it been so hard to attract TOP coaching talent? Heck...even Saban was considered by some to be a mediocre coach who hadn't done much at Michigan St before we hired him.

Scotty W better be crootin some elite names.

Also, 2019 helps the prestige of the job

Incompetent leadership and the governor’s meddling and manipulation are two big factors at LSU

Same problems that LSU has had for a century.

Ummm Miles was definitely a known commodity not only when we hired him, but even afterwards when Michigan came calling.

It isn't a top 5 job.

Albama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Southern Cal, Texas, Oklahoma etc.

If LSU is top 5 then that means there are a max of 4 ahead of you.

Bama, Ohio State, Notre Dame are locks.

Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, Penn State, USC are as good or better.

Top 10 ? maybe

Top 15? for sure

But top 5? I don't think so.

Not trolling, but you don't see 5 schools on that list that are nationally more desirable?

O sucked and you can definitely blame that on Alleva, but Miles is pretty criminally underrated nowadays. The game passed him by and he's a terrible person, but he was a really good coach until ~2013ish. Miles and Chavis wrote the book on how to stop the spread when run by good teams. Even before LSU while it was arguably not deserved, he won the Big 12 coach of the year award.

Yeah when Oklahoma State played the Eli Ole Miss team in the Cotton Bowl, that was Oklahoma State’s best team since the 80s. He did a good job there.

Miles was not a bad coach pre RPO/targeting. He just failed to adapt.

No you are Trolling, Funny How LSU had to find Bama Saban after they fricked up with Mike Price and David Shula...Oh and LSU is far ahead of Flordia, UGA or ND.

That absolutely is not a troll.

Do you honestly think that there aren't 5 teams on that list more desirable nationally?

Bama, OSU and ND are without a doubt.

Texas, Oklahoma, USC are for the vast majority of the country.

Michigan, Florida, Georgia are on par with LSU.

I would imagine there are some jobs like Oregon that are more desirable than you realize due to facilities.

Not being in the top 5 isn't an insult, the top 5 are college football royalty.

All kidding aside, I've never seen such a sensitive fan base.

I'm bama but if someone listed ND ahead of bama I could see it, ND is the holy grail for a lot of coaches.

Same goes with Ohio State, they are basically the bama of the north.

you people are killing me, yeesh

Miles was a major candidate when we hired him. P5 to P5 is extremely rare, and two of our last three were that.

Miles was willing to pay his own buyout and wanted to come to LSU. LSU was not willing to wait for Jack del Rio. Skip talked about this in an interview a few years ago.

Ogeron took the job for 3 million when the state was broke.

Bro you know how I know LSU is a top 5 job. Your bitch arse is on an LSU coaching changes board positing your thoughts on the job on a random Wednesday.

Get wrecked.

Is the original poster trolling?

He asks a legit question.

If LSU is a top 5 job then why have they had to settle for orgeron and miles, people that nobody else would even want or touch.

Geesh. He was being more brutally honest than me.

I guess it's just the source that's the issue.
