And let's throw in Gruden's name too & we'll have the trifecta of things that will never happen. Does UM really want to come back to the SEC & have to play Saban every year this time?

This. Meyer has proven himself. Herman has not. I bet Herman is itching to play Saban as a HC. He's been able to dominate Saban's defense, now he wants to dominate him every year. Herman is confident. LSU is the best place for Herman.

Making a phone call to see if the best coaches are interested is a waste of resources?
If we're literally just making ONE phone call, then yes; it's a waste of time. Why even try if you're going to half-arse it like that?

"Hi! Is Coach Saban remotely interested in getting his old job back? No? Ok, great. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!"

Meyer already proved he cant handle the SEC grind. Left for easier road to the playoffs
Big 10 is a far harder road now than the SEC east

Saban and Meyer won't leave. LSU is just getting a feeler/opinion on what it takes to get a top candidate like Herman.

Herman is the hire that will make the entire SEC piss themselves.

Meyer couldn't handle the pressure at Florida. You really think he would even consider LSU? It's also insane to think that saban would come back here. He's in the playoff every year at bama. At best it's a lateral move

why would the God of the tide want to come her and start all over again?
why would we approach a quitter like UM? As soon as Tebow was gone, he saw what was coming, and the fierceness of the competition in the SEC, so he ran away, then showed up in Ohio, and now has to computer at a lower level than here. To hell with both of them

I'm confident in saying LSU doesn't want either of them. Who are the only two coaches hotter than Herman right now... Meyer and Saban. They're baiting Herman and I like it.

I think that it is a nice stroke of Herman's ego to say "We only called Saban, Meyer, and You."

You are putting this guy in their class without him having the skins on the wall. I like it.

Honest question: what could possibly drag Saban away from bama over to here?

Maybe he is sick of the cat food and arse smell of Alabama.

And come to a clean and wholesome state like Louisisana? Gotcha.

I don't know why people completely dismiss the possibility that the UF job taught Meyer a lesson and he learned from the experience and carried it over to OSU. He would be just as, if not more, successful in the SEC if he were to come back.
