As was the case with Kelly and Saban or any coach who has the luxury of being a "chooser."

This is correct.

Very very correct.

i think it's more likely LSU decision makers turn their nose up at hiring tulane's coach, similar to ull.

Yeah I've seen more 'we can't hire Tulanes coach' more than 'I don't want our coach to leave for LSU'.

While I know a few Tulane fans who wouldn't like it (mostly the older ones who were around during the rivalry) most of the fans I know around my age don't care that much as long as he doesn't do what Fritz did (poaching players during bowl prep).

If Sumrall goes to a good Power team this year or next it means we will have continued success and likley can attract another good coach.

Scott Ballard our BOS chairman is a Tulane grad. He wouldn’t give a shite about taking the Tulane coach

caveat is this is likely very unpalatable for Landry. bad optics to remove HC of Tulane and install at LSU when you want to win re-election and get votes out of New Orleans.

This state is a fricking banana republic.

I've heard it from multiple people now. Tulane grads - lots of whom are lawyers - would be very unhappy if their HC would be poached to LSU.

He's going to be moving up from Tulane anyhow, why not to LSU and keep him in-state.

These people are crazy if they think he's just going to stay at Tulane if he doesn't go to LSU.

they may very well be disinterested in tulane football but the optics of lsu taking something away from tulane may piss on a few cheerios.

I listened to Ruffino for the first time last week. Gave me a migraine. Won't make that same mistake twice.

I could see him stay at Tulane one more year if Auburn doesn't open up. I'm not sure that LSU will seriously look at him (nothing to do politically).

I could see Auburn fire Freeze if they feel LSU would seriously consider him.

I think Sumrall wants that Auburn job, but if LSU is offering it to him he is running to accept that offer

If AU fires Hugh. Look for Sumrall at AU.

He does. LSU better hire him before AU fires Hugh.

If that happens I think Auburn seriously considers letting Freeze go.

Yep, hard to see Sumrall not moving this cycle.

As others said, he may only stay if Auburn doesn't come open but it's clear a change is imminent.

Maybe Blake Baker lands there once Sumrall leaves.

If you believe Ruffino he'll have you believing that Gov Landry has no support among wealthy boosters. Clearly, we have wealthy boosters in opposing factions. Those who support Woody and the current structure of college football HC contracts at major football programs versus those who want reform in these same contracts.

If that list is accurate, it's going to be Sumrall. Lane is going to command a contract that won't be approved.
