All of the Never Orgeron people have to admit that no matter what, LSU has played 10 times better under him than under miles.

I'll concede this. He has them playing with a chip on thier shoulder, which is great when you lose your coach mid-season.

But we shouldnt be comparing the new coach to Les. We should be comparing them to other candidates.

And let's make a list of schools chasing after Dumbo Fisher with LSU..... none.

Don't want him anywhere.

Agreed! Coach O's list has to be twice as long as Jimbo's right?

Nobody is chasing him because who realistically besides us is gonna pull him? Whose chasing Saban aside from UT last year?

here is a timeline for people to consider:

9/29/13 - 12/2/13 - USC Interim Head Coach
12/2/13 - 1/14/15 - Unsuccessful at landing a head coaching job.
1/14/15 - accepts defensive line coach job at LSU.

Ed Orgeron went from 12/2/13 when he left USC to 1/14/15 unable to land a job better than DL coach at LSU. He isn't getting a power 5 head coaching job. He's also probably not going to come anywhere near sniffing a power 5 defensive coordinator job.

Dude needs to accept what he is. He's a great recruiter and a DL coach who happens to do pretty good in interim situations.

I think he gets a job if he doesn't get the LSU job. Yes, Ole Miss was an epic dumpster fire. But if LSU wins out he will have gone 12-2 over his last 14 games as well as 6-2 in games against ranked teams. Given how many bad power 5 football teams there are and how shitey some of the hiring decisions have been, you have to think that some AD has to take a shot.

Just because O kicked your arse in high school, is that any reason to hold a grudge for almost 40 years?

Based on absolutely nothing, I'd bet he joins Kiffin's staff (should he take a HC job) as the DC/Recruiting Coordinator to get Coordinator experience working towards his Head Coaching return. I agree, though, that if LSU doesn't offer him the head coaching job it is not likely anyone else will...

Downvote me all you want but he is far from the worst hire an AD could make. Worst case for O is he maintains or improves most school's recruiting but doesn't put it all together in terms of wins. His ceiling may be lower than most but his floor is much higher. I am pretty sure he isn't the long term solution at LSU but I would be surprised if he doesn't have a head coaching job somewhere next year. Acting like the interim job is easy is stupid. Most interim coaches fail badly. It is pretty rare for someone to succeed and pretty unheard of for someone to succeed at it twice. He is a head coach somewhere next season.

He had his chance to do that and failed.

Louisiana-Lafayette Cajuns might hire O but he might not accept it for fear of duplicating his records at Ole Miss.

Houston, after Herman goes to UT. Maybe somewhere else in the AAC, like USF, Memphis, ECU, or Cincinnati, if other dominos fall.

Outside of P-5 or AAC, he would make more money as an P-5 assistant than as a head coach in the Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC, or D-II.

Doesn't really matter who else is interested in hiring him just a s long as he is available for LSU to hire if we were to go that route.

Actually works in our favor as we won't get in a bidding war for Orgeron and can spend more on hiring or keeping assistant coaches such as Aranda.

I see it as a huge positive

kick Florida Gayturd arse then the Texas AM Faggies.

so gauging the market (which there is none) doesn't mean anything?

I think it will be CUSA/Sunbelt type of teams.

Some people are GROSSLY overstating his attractiveness as a HC. LSU is pretty much his only chance at getting a major job because of the unique fit here.

I don't get why people think his interim record is so damn special. He took over for USC and LSU. Both were as talented as any team in the country but underachieved, which got the head coaches canned. Everything was already set in place for him, all he had to do was keep the Ferrari between the lines. I would be impressed if he took over for someone like Vandy and coached them up to a winning record. Not so much winning with one of the most talented teams in the country.

I wouldn't put it past Alabama to bring him in at a salary he can't refuse.
