From my sources* connected to Lane from his time here in South Florida, the word I've always gotten is Lane loves Oxford - so there's that.

He currently receives $9 million base plus incentives and bonuses for wins, playoffs, ticket sales, etc. with a bonus cap of an additional $2.6 million. If he remains HC at Ole Miss through Dec 31, 2023, he gets an additional $250k.

A&M needs a Sabanesque coach. Someone who has enough clout and balls to tell the boosters to screw off and let him run the team his way. Urban is the only one I see who could pull this off, but I just don't see it happening.

If it is just about money, Ole miss is as good as any job for lane. They will match anyone else’s offer and he also won’t be expected to win a national championship
If it is about actually wanting to have an opportunity to win a national championship, Florida and A&M are far better options

Kiffin is a perfect fit at ole miss. He’s quirky enough and plays a style of football they love in Oxford. He gets to make some head scratching calls and losses with little expectations while remaining the king of the town.
Aggy, wants to win a title in the worst way possible and will pay whatever it takes. He’d be under significantly more pressure there.
Elko will be the hire IMO.
