was hiring Sarkisian to Washington "big"?

I have to guess he went after Petersen, a big fish, who declined.

I’m sure he did but that program was a dumpster fire

Peterson here with all the Louisiana hs talent would be insane. If he kept the local talent here we would be top 10 year in and year out geauxtigers:

We'll that's depressing good sir. But true.

If I recall, the story was that one of Chris Petersen’s children had a health issue where they regularly had to see a specialist in Seattle. It was something rare and complicated - like to the point that there weren’t doctors in L.A. who could handle it. That’s why he never went to USC, UCLA, Oregon, Colorado, etc. Basically, the only job he would have taken was Washington, because he was already going to Seattle every couple of months.

Chicken, all im saying is next time you're having brunch with Scott Woodward, run it past him.

Lol I’ve never understood this logic… It’s like the team that “reaches” for a guy in the draft and gets ridiculed but they’ll guy turns into an All Pro. If it’s the right hire and it works out for the best, then it absolutely is not a “lousy hire”. There’s a reason these people make millions of dollars to make big decisions like this

No one notices the obvious.

If he is a great coach, he will be the first one at LSU since Saban. Therefore, he would be a fantastic hire.
If Napier is hired, it’s because Woodward missed on his top tier targets and probably 2-3 of his secondary tier targets.

The difference in your example and this situation is that when a team “reaches”
for a guy, they are choosing to pick the player instead of someone who is generally rated as “better”.
In the case of the coaching hire, LSU would not be choosing Napier because they like him better than Riley, kiffin, Petersen, etc….it would be because those guys said no thanks to LSU

Not if Scott said “Napiers my guy and that’s who I’m choosing” after doing interviews with a few of those other ones. Look I’m not saying it will be Napier or that he’s the top option, but I know for a fact that he is highly thought of by Woodward and several others inside LSU. The list won’t go down very far before we got to him

Petersen left Boise because he was feeling burned out there and thought going to UW would reignite him.
Bruce Feldman interviewed him and wrote a pretty in depth piece in May where he talked about leaving Boise and stepping down at UW.

It's going to be Napier.

You never mentioned Urban Meyer. That must be the white whale. It's been way too quiet for him not to be a player.
Thanks, Chicken! You've revealed the white whale without actually talking about him. Very clever...

Democrats run LSU do you really think they'd allow CUM to govern an LSU team? They should but like Freeze it will never happen.

Most sensible post on here Chicken. No matter who it is someone will be melting. I wouldn’t want to be in Woodward’s shoes. There are a lot of big names floating around on this board and most are not anywhere close to being serious candidates. It will very likely be one on the ‘tier 2 or even tier 3 lists- depending on the list and who made it.
