Why are you so salty. The people you are arguing with are not saying Lane is a done deal, just that it is not as crazy as you are trying to make it sound.

You Auburn fans think a lot more of your program than where it actually sits in the landscape of college football. Your overinflated ego just needs to be called out. Not all of you but some.

And im bored at work and arguing on a message board passes the time.

I want no part of LK. He's another one of those offensive coordinators who would rather prove how clever or brilliant they are than actually win the game (which describes 98% of OCs in college and the pros). He can't help himself but get cute in the Red Zone.

Hi Kettle, you are black.

Ole Miss, for having never won anything of note…not even a trip to ATL at a chance for the SECC, all of a sudden acts like they are world beaters and some destination job.

Not one of us has said that. We are saying we are a middle of the pack SEC program. We are just saying Auburn isn't a top tier SEC job and for a coach to jump from 1 to the other isn't a done deal like you make it out to be. Auburn is closer to OM than it is to Bama/UGA.

The Alabama job will clearly be attractive when it eventually becomes available. It will offer a HC all the resources and money to win big. But there might not be a tougher job in America to walk into given the expectations will be to continue the nearly two decades long string of unbelievable success they've had. Winning the SEC is EXPECTED, not celebrated. Making the playoffs every year is EXPECTED, not celebrated. And while winning a national championship every years is not quite the expectation level, winning one every other year or so is. That is an incredibly high standard to live up to and many HCs who are getting paid well elsewhere and will now feel they have a better shot to win a championship with Saban out of the way may not want to take on that burden.

It sounds strange to say, but Alabama not making the playoffs or winning titles over the next few years might make the job MORE attractive because the next HC may feel he doesn't have to come in an win a championship immediately.

Just look at Brian Kelly. The expectations for him this season were low relative to LSU's standards. He's already exceeded those expectations this season and all LSU fans are celebrating a (to this point) 2 loss season as one of the best seasons in the last 2 decades. Had Kelly come in after 2019 the expectation level for him would have been FAR different.

Point being, I don't think Kiffin wants to deal with the expectations of being the guy who has to follow Saban. He will be able to command near $100M at another school without the DEMAND that he win multiple NCs quickly.

Over a 3 year span or a 20/30 year span?

I’d say Auburn historically is a top 5 job in the SEC. I’d also put Ole Miss around 8. That’s about a 3 spot jump, but you also have to take into account how bad things are at Auburn right now. It will take at least 3 years to make them competitive again, whereas Ole Miss could have a top 10-15 team going into next season.

Your fan base won’t let it develop for a few years. Any step back will be met with fury. Hell there is a segment that wants Saban fired or to clean house now.

Meh — maybe the idiots.

On the internet it may seem that way, but I personally don't know any actual Alabama fans like that.

Not to say they don't exist, of course, but we all know the difference between fans and "fans."

Once we inevitably have a struggle again, we'll lose most of those sidewalk sky-screamers anyway.

Trolling is different if its your former employer. It makes it feel salty. He also respects Saban a ton.

With the portal, not really.

And that portal is about to be hopping.

All you can say is Auburn is in the top group of 6, and Ole Miss is in the bottom group of 8.

Huge difference.

The rankings within these groups (over a decent time span - 20, 30, 40 years) vary significantly.

I'm in no way convinced Kiffin won't go to the NFL.

But I do think part of Kiffin's draw is that he's cool, and that simply doesn't matter very much in the NFL.
