Sorry

If you think he's the same coach he was 10 years ago, I don't know what to tell you.

What about what he did at LSU and USC when given the shot to lead those teams? Was he supposed to win NC as interim?

I want sec titles not sec west titles and the improvements that I saw from sept thru the end of the season earned O a shot at the job. I have never said he should be the #1 ca dosage but I can see him being a good fit once you got passed Jimbo and Herman.

It's not that I don't think he is, it's that I have no way of knowing if he is.

Let's not pretend that having some success as an interim coach two times is the same thing as being a permanent head coach. You're surely smarter than that. Again, i give him credit for keeping the ship afloat, but taking the keys and steering it permanently is a different game.

Don't you think the Florida game was a giant red flag? Not just that LSU didn't beat that team by at least 2-3 scores but also the way the team appeared to lack discipline before the game? The confusion of players at important times? The way that an injured player was allowed to dictate to the coaching staff that he wanted to play after pushing a coach on the opposite team?

This was several games into the tenure of the new coach and the trajectory was negative. The Ole Miss fans I've talked to viewed it as a recreation of what they saw from his time at Ole Miss.

LSU will rarely have the kind of health and talent advantage over Florida that they did this year. And the result was bad.

No

Gameplay was correct. Execution was not. Guice scores and they don't miss on ST, were not discussing this. Coaching on game day wasn't the issue.

They would have if not for bad execution. Execution is player responsibility. Not coach's.

Taking over talented teams with nothing to lose as an interim is a totally different ballgame and you know it.....not to mention in both stints the only win of note was Stanford

So we're gambling on the fact that he's changed since Ole Miss? Why? We didn't have to

So we have 3 stints of O as a "Head" Coach. Two of which he DID NOT install his own program and simply adjusted one in place. And one in which he did have full control.

That's what I see. It's not that Ole Miss is the only thing that matters, but it's clear that when he had full control he stunk. When he came in, kept motivation high and made small adjustments, with the help of a staff HE DID NOT CHOOSE, on a plan he did not create, he was mildly successful.

What does that tell you? How can you trust this guy with doing the right things to run a program, when clearly, he was successful when he actually didn't have much control at all? Is that what we want in a head coach?

Why do we have to be "the tryout," and why do fans have to suck it up and be happy with something that's clearly a problem?

I don't understand this argument out of you. You've been around long enough here to think about this and see the records posted so this can't be simple ignorance.

His performance at both of those jobs as interim was similar to the performance of the head coaches who were fired. Losing two of the three big games at USC he coached was the reason he did not get the job. Especially when USC was blown out at home by UCLA. The team did just fine without him in their bowl game as well - beating an 11 win Fresno team comfortably. So it wasn't a lack of ability on the team that held him back there.

I think most people who are honest would admit Les Miles would have probably still lost his job if he finished out the year with what Orgeron did. Especially choking away the Florida game and doing absolutely nothing against Alabama offensively.

what about the 6 games they played their arse off...do those not count?

Once again we dominated them and lost. Does a foot make that much difference in his coaching abilities?

I also think the fans, players, and the rant gave UF so much motivation to win that game. I doubt we played a more motivated team all year. We called them out and it backfired. Mcelwain was almost in tears AFTER the game about the disrespect we showed them for what happened so I bet he gave one of the best motivational pre game speeches of the year...oh yeh let's not forget they were playing for sec east title. And we STILL dominated them

Look, i don't agree with the hire. I think there should have been more candidates to choose from. But there wasn't.

I'm basing what he did at LSU and USC as far as his ability. He sucked at Ole Miss, but based off what I saw at LSU, I can only hope he goes from there. What else can I do?

Blame a binder and a fat radio host that is a PR guy and that's it? I tend to try to look past the surface.

My question is why are people bashing him when he has been on the job for less than a week

I watched the Bama game and the Fla game. More than a week since then

He will be able to hire his own people and run his own system. The negativity is ridiculous

And that's what he did at Ole Miss, and we saw the results

Why should someone who pulls for LSU give up?

Then you need to re-think your support of Ogreron. Because when he was offered a previous job at LSU, he chose Tenn. Then he talked LSU recruits into stiffing us on signing day, leaving us short. So he claimed to pull for LSU, and gave up??

Totally disagree.

They were put in the position by the coaches to score. Players dropped the ball. Literally. Left 13-17 points on the field.

I get the head coach gets the blame for everything but not from me once it's time to put that strategy on the field.

His stint at Ole Miss to me says the most about his ability to build a program properly and the fact that his possible second in command had similar issues when he ran programs...well that my friend greatly worries me

I think the reason you and I will not agree about much probably has something to do with how we view success.

I don't care about domination by the eye test. I care about wins and losses. I would rather be 2002 tOSU than 2002 Miami. I would rather be a team that wins close games than a team that wins some games big and then loses games they should win.

I would rather win the games we should than lose those games and blow out bad teams. I just don't view the margin against bad teams as meaningful.

Look, O has a 0% of ever making the playoffs, therefore a 0% chance of ever winning a national championship.

You are definitely full of shite. You state your BS as being some kind of fact. Downward trajectory, 6-6 for 3 straight seasons, now you are stating he has 0% chance of making the playoffs. How's your team Bama going to do next season? Saban going to win it all again?

quote:

He shouldn't get 3 years, at best he gets 2. No playoffs he's out.

Playoffs or fired huh? How many teams make the playoffs each year?

quote:

You sound super emotional. It's logical to look at O's history and see a 9-3 ceiling, and probably an average of 7-5, 6-6. That's not pessimistic.

You just make up shite as you go along don't you? You can look at someone's history at Ole Miss and state as fact that his ceiling is 9-3? How about him going 11-4 in his last two HC jobs? How about 5 wins this year with a TE's coach running the offense?

quote:

There's very little proof that O can do better as a long term Head Coach. None

6-2 at USC taking over for a guy who with the same players and program went 4-7 in his last 11 games and was fired on the tarmac. 5-2 at LSU without an OC. Yeah, NO PROOF WHAT-SO-EVER. That is being very pessimistic when you have to go back 10 years to find fault and state doom and gloom for the LSU head coach.

quote:

It's not pessimistic to say: O is not, and will never be, an elite coach. That's a fact, not an emotional opinion.

Stating your imaginary bullshite as fact again. It's not pessimistic to create shite to belittle the LSU head coach? Damn sure isn't being optimistic. May not be emotional, but that is about all you can say for your bullshite statements.

quote:

Let go of the anger and emotion, just look at the facts.

I am. The fact is he is 11-4 in his last two coaching stints. LSU played better and was much better offensively with him running the team, even with a TE's coach as OC. Those are facts. What are your facts again? Care to pull some more bullshite out of thin air and then try to say you're not pessimistic and the shite you just stated is somehow fact?

Those were really bad football teams that we should curb stomp given the talent this team had. Let's be honest, the SEC sucked arse this year. Les' inability to run through it just says more about him

Ole miss doesn't have the checkbook for assistants, recruiting grounds, or facilities LSU has. Comparing the 2 for opportunity to succeed is really retarded.

ETA do y'all think CLM would've won a national title at ole miss?

I just don't see how you think the guy is the same exact head coach he was a decade ago. I just don't see it.
