Exactly. Maybe 3 because the talent is there. If not, he's done.

But god forbid you give the guy a shot. We are all morons because we take a wait and see approach.

Being critical of O and the administration and this process is not being a "suck arse" fan. That's incorrect.

Didn't you just say this - quote below? Sounds like anything over six wins and you will be disappointed or look like an idiot. Which is the better option for you?

quote:

Question is, how long does it take, and when do O supporters give up?

When do the excuses stop? 3 straight season of 6-6 or worse?

You sound very pessimistic and pessimists usually are that way because they expect the worst. Looks like you are hoping for it. You are making up hypothetical bullshite. Downward trajectory? 6-6 for 3 straight seasons? How about the other one - you are full of shite and have no fricking idea what you are talking about?

On a side note, how do you think your team will do next year?

What was his great accomplishment as our interim to cause us to ignore his record? Please tell me.
What was his signature win? Losing to Florida at home?

Did you HONESTLY think that LSU would finish undefeated with the Les Miles offense and a backup that's a starter in Etling?

Please

I'm not even getting into the Florida game. My opinion is the minority. Orgeron really didn't do much wrong as far as X and O's and he handled personnel well. Got a lot of kids deserved playing time. Keep kids fresh.

Yep if he has 3 seasons averaging 7-8 wins he should be gone...I haven't heard any O supporters lower their expectations for the program. Now the cry babies act like we won't win 6 games a year

great argument bro. But i guess thats easier than trying to objectively defend the O hire.

OK, but what is the approximate boundary for firing? Next year if LSU won 7-8 games what then? 6 games?

You said nothing of substance at all and admittedly are ignoring the worst part of his stint at interim.

This narrative is so tired. Everyone is "giving him a shot" because they have no choice in the matter. What are we to do besides vent on a message board (that happens to be dedicated to LSU sports? I'm still going to every game and still cheering for LSU as hard as I can. And no one hates O or dislikes him personally - I'd love to have him on staff coaching DL and recruiting. But people are disillusioned with the hire and his lack of qualifications, which is objectively fair. Do you truly not understand why LSU fans would be a bit upset with our hiring a career DL coach to replace the coach that led us to our most successful 10-year run ever? Again, I'm "giving him a chance" and hope more than anything that he succeeds because that means LSU succeeds. But surely you understand my and everyone else's apprehension, right?

If he won 7 games and then 6 games I would be fine with firing him. I think he showed peonies coming in and getting the kids to play the way they did. He gets younger players playing time which can only be an advantage in depth, development, and keeping starters healthy.

Name a 7 game stretch since 2011 that this team played this well? He made LSU football fun to watch again.

Exactly. He will succeed or fail if he wins or loses.

It isn't like people have changed their opinions unfairly since he was hired. This board has been filled with people desperate not to hire an unproven head coach with a bad history in that position.

If the Giants hired Rich Kotite to be their new head coach you could reliably expect both skepticism and anger. That's what happens when you make this kind of hire.

Here we just can't agree. The Alabama and especially the Florida games were not good performances. LSU has reliably dominated A&M and beating up terrible opponents is not meaningful whether the team doing the running up is Missouri or LSU.

This is nice and I'll give him credit for keeping things moving in the midst of turmoil. But was he not hired largely under the guise of continuity? I.e., were not that far off, just need a couple small tweaks... If that is indeed the case, it's SECW title in the next 2 years or GTFO

Huh? You're misaligning things. I've already said in previous posts that I expect 8-4/9-3 next year. But I view that as a failure. I don't think the pro-O camp does. That's the problem. I'm asking what does it take for someone with a more positive view to understand the kind of coach O is?

Look, O has a 0% of ever making the playoffs, therefore a 0% chance of ever winning a national championship. That's the thing. he has never proven sustained success as a head coach, or the ability to run a program. So the first sign of him not being able to do that - hiring an elite OC- is just more proof. 9-3 would cement him as more of the same. He shouldn't get 3 years, at best he gets 2. No playoffs he's out. But the way he "won" this search, it seems like 6-6 years won't phase anyone's view of him. That's the point. I don't want 6-6 to happen, but if it does, I fear he sticks around for a long time.

You sound super emotional. It's logical to look at O's history and see a 9-3 ceiling, and probably an average of 7-5, 6-6. That's not pessimistic. There's very little proof that O can do better as a long term Head Coach. None.

It's not pessimistic to say: O is not, and will never be, an elite coach. That's a fact, not an emotional opinion.

Let go of the anger and emotion, just look at the facts.

I absolutely understand the apprehension. I have it myself. But to sit here for weeks regurgitating the same talking points over and over again and LSU is forever screwed because you don't like the radio guy that brings O coffee?

Who gives a frick about a binder? I don't care how he got the job. None of that shite is remotely important. The final product on the field. He didnt do a bad job coaching with what he was given. If he did and looked terrible in every single game, I could understand the doomsday. He looked far and away better than Miles did. If Orgeron was the coach all year, I think we'd be looking at a 10-2 team.

I just want to see what he puts on the field. Who he hires and the class he brings in is going to be Top 6, minimum.

Sorry I don't believe they're 7-8 win teams.

Well, maybe until they get rid of Etling. He's a backup. Hopefully Lindsey Scott is as good as advertised.

I will address the Florida loss...

We dominated them and didn't execute worth a crap inside the 5yd line. Gave up a fluke 97 yd TD. I hated the 3rd down call. We still only needed a foot to win and then what? 6-1 with a sugar bowl berth...would that foot make that big of a difference to you?

If you're truly thjs bothered by LSU fans complaining about a highly controversial hire of a new football coach that occurred a week ago, then maybe the coaching changes board of an LSU fan website isn't the place for you.

Agreed

And what's the problem with thinking that he makes those tweaks and get there?

Nothing? It's just that he has no track record of leading a program that didn't end in colossal failure. I dig the blind faith angle I guess but it's not something I can really sign off on.
