I laugh because this is why the previous AD got fired.

He was fired because he did not understand the business he was running and did not understand his customer base.

its weird to me that UGA and UF both don't have IPF. LSU has had an IPF forever. I would think Foley would have had one built by now considering everyone claims he gives everything to his coaches to be successful.

I don't know, man. Les has Louisiana recruiting pretty much on lock, right? He comes up here, he doesn't really have that monopoly. As dumb as it may sound, I think Les is just a slightly better version of Hoke because he has had all that La. talent. I would have been fine with him in '07 or '10, but I feel like the ship has sailed and U-M should focus on somebody else.
Michigan, for some reason or another, has always been good with california kids haven't they?

Les would go toe to toe with Meyer and Kelly for the midwest guys and then try to dip into California where the maize and blue are generally strong.

You guys always get Florida kids as well.

Talent has always gravitated towards Ann Arbor...that would not change under Miles one bit.

I agree with this. I think the University wants to get back to a Don Canham type of AD though. The AD should promote and raise money. Not try and squeeze the fanbase for every nickel.

Les trying to dip into LA for recruiting would be interesting. I don't think he would have near the success that saban has in coming and pulling talent out. He might take a couple of kids with him from this class but in the years following I think his success would slow down with LA kids.

So does it make you sleep better at night believing Michigan had no interest in Les, and rather put its stock in Brady Hoke?

And respect the traditions of the school, especially at a place like UM. However, the hiring and firing needs to be done like a business. For AD revenue the head football coach is likely the most important decision.

I would believe butch just put his name in the search and took it out instead of michigan actually being interested in him. He brings les miles clock management and time out use without the les miles results.

That isn't what I mean by run it like a business. It means that Lloyd Carr has less than zero say. It means the school types have less than zero say. It means every booster or random person who even considers using the word "Michigan Man" is killed in a fire.

The programs who have been doing this are the ones who are successful. Alabama had to go through the very same painful transition in the early 00's, and it's the only way to compete at the highest level anymore.

And Brian fires back saying Rousell doenst know dick

quote:

I know from people who have talked directly to Harbaugh that he has interest in the job and is telling Michigan that. The concern previously was that Michigan was not reaching out in any sort of semi-official manner. 247 reported earlier this week that bridge-mending was going on between Carr and Harbaugh.
This may be a he-said-she-said battle of the sources, but look at it from Harbaugh's perspective (or possibly his agent's). Harbaugh is under contract; the 49ers may try to trade him; any trade necessarily hampers his ability to win at the new place; the possibility of leaving for Michigan brings the price down and improves his leverage. Even if Harbaugh had 0.0% interest in returning to college he would not be telling people that.
And unless he's flat out lying to multiple former teammates that's not the case. If so, this is the appropriate GIF.
With that in mind, I'm not inclined to take the rest of Scott Roussel's alarming post seriously. His previous report about Hackett informing the regents he had not found anyone who could do the AD job at Michigan was 90% crap. It is a funhouse mirror version of the truth in which Michigan has decided that they should use Hackett for a transitional period specifically because football has a hiring season and they don't want to throw a guy in right now and expect him to get the thing right. Hackett's timeframe here is not likely to last past the summer.
