Look for #Eagles OL coach Jeff Stoutland to replace Kyle Flood (off to Texas) as #Alabama’s offensive line coach. Stoutland who was the Tide’s OL coach in 2011-12, and Nick Saban go back a long time.

That’s great news. Stoutland was probably the best OL coach we’ve had under Saban. He was the coach for that 2011 OL that was so dominant.

Wow, that's an outstanding name for a line coach.

I am pumped about this hire. Just hope he can be a better recruiter this time around.

I mean, I don't think Flood was the primary recruiter for any of our commits this year. I believe he was secondary on the OL recruits, but not primary. I'm guessing Stoutland will do the same thing as Flood in recruiting.

ETA: The guy is an ace at teaching the O-line, and that is what you need in college football. You can get away with having ace recruiters but not so great position coaches at spots like WR coach, RB coach or TE coach, but at OL you absolutely have to have someone that can teach proper technique.

If he can tout his record as an NFL OL Coach then he’ll have no trouble recruiting.

I wouldn’t worry about his recruiting ability. Your program is the recruiting mechanism now, not coaching personalities.

You mean this NFL record:

quote:

Eagles offensive line rank under Jeff Stoutland (PFF):
- 2013: 1st
- 2014: 2nd
- 2015: 12th
- 2016: 8th
- 2017: 1st
- 2018: 1st
- 2019: 1st

Despite an absurd 14 different OL combinations in 2020, Eagles OL ranked 15th in pass pro, 17th in run blocking.

I bet Saban already had Stoutland lined up even before Sark took Flood

Gregg would be so much better. Gregg coaches the best line in 2019 why would nick not want that?

Meanwhile, back at LSU, BBQ Buddy James Cregg remains intact......

Expected to stay in NFL now.

New name to watch is Doug Marronne. Coached with O’Brien at Georgia Tech.

Great hire. Curious why he would leave the NFL?
