Would I take Marcus Freeman? Sure. He’s not my #1 but he’s shown to be a more relevant coach than Kelly in this new era. But in all honesty I don’t think Freeman is in the top 5 candidate pool for LSU decision makers.

Why would a dude who played for OSU (got his arse whipped by LSU in the 07 NCG *thanks BU Bear*) leave for a school he already said no to once, especially after seeing the standard they just held his former boss to? He can bathe in mediocrity at ND and won’t get fired as long as they are in the playoffs every 3rd year.

Somebody please tell me I’m not just being anti ESPN (aka racist).

Y'all MFers think anyone that isn't a white dude is a DEI hire.

fricking pitiful.

The HC at Notre Dame is always perceived by the national media as a bigger deal than they actually are, going back like 80 years.

He’s been mentioned by every CFB personality for every major opening all season. His agent is obviously trying to get him a raise and to strip whatever is left of admissions standards/transfer restrictions for football at ND. Nothing more.

I think he would be an incredible hire, but I do not think the obvious push to get his name floated everywhere is related to anything other than negotiations at ND.

Jesus Christ man.

Freeman doesn’t work for ESPN first of all, second seems like a pretty damn good football coach.

I'd love for Marcus Freeman to be our guy. He's pretty fricking good.

It’s their excuse to inject race into the coaching search. Why would Freeman be a candidate, why would he leave ND in the middle of having the success he’s having. It’s ESPN being ESPN. Could’ve mentioned Sheppard but that doesn’t have the national impact or name recognition to drum up their nonsense.

Where would you rank ND in terms of donor support in the CFB landscape? Even with their struggles this year the dude is a year removed from a championship berth, I’m sure ND will gladly pony up at the slightest hint that he’s getting courted. That doesn’t really require too much leverage.

Doesn't matter who pushes what. We aren't hiring that guy. End of story.

Freeman's agent is just trying to get him an extension. He's not a real candidate

Freeman is not leaving ND. He has a great setup there that no other school can beat.

1. Small school with minimal headaches.
2. Great booster support.
3. Ability to compete in the CFP every year.
4. Has a stud QB and OC he does not have to spend much time on.
5. Able to recruit high achieving student/players who are easier to coach.

Why would he leave that when every coach is trying to achieve that?

Disney/ESPN

People always forget who owns ESPN. When you understand this, then you'll know what's wrong with ESPN (And ABC).

I mean, if you win at ND is kind of impressive. Schools in the middle of BFE. There is literally nothing us there but the school. Its not a party school. Has pretty tough education requirements. Really difficult to attract top recruits who even are eligible.

I mean, on paper the BK hire was a home run.

But then again, 4 years ago Dabo was a home run hire and look at him now
