re: Is Arkansas and Pittman playing coy?

We're exactly where we were at the end of Bert: 4 wins coming off 7 wins, coming off 9 (8) wins. With close losses aplenty and losses to G5 schools. I think Bert was 0–10 in his first ten one-possession games at Arkansas. Bielema was known for fundamental, penaltyless football with strong lines at Wisconsin. Pittman is known exclusively and solely for offensive line. None of their strengths manifested as HC at Arkansas.

I think Arkansas needs to stick with mens basketball and baseball and call it a day.

The ONLY reason I could see him take a reduced negotiated retirement is if he really wants to retire. The way his contract is written is that he must seek and accept employment. Now, if he really does want to hang it up then negotiating a smaller amount may be beneficial to him. And with his demeanor with the last half of the season it may be a possibility.

Are you sure about that? I thought his contract contain poor performance clause and non compete clauses instead.

Could they be waiting for Odom to finish the season at UNLV?

Bert did for a short time at Arkansas.
Denver Kirkland
Dan Skipper
Sebastian Tretola
Frank Ragnow
Hjalte Froholdt
Hunter Henry
Four of them are either starters or on NFL teams.
What hurt Bert is when Sam left, Bert made a bad hire with some losses on the OL and that level of production wasn't replaced.
Pittman would be fine here had he just been an OL coach but that isn't his duties now. His inexperience made him a bad hire in Kennedy. Big difference in being a position coach and making a decision as a head coach that you believe is a good OL coach. Sam has no prior experience in coaching hires.
Arkansas didn't have a good OL under Briles and the only player that was any good was Ricky Stromberg. Briles and his offense was able to exploit the strength of the OL while minimizing the weaknesses.
It helps that K.J has legs or that OL would look even worse.

He pulls off the upset and gets carried off the field and into retirement.

Most like the reason you haven’t heard anything is they have already decided to fire him and they have a agreement behind the scenes with Gus Mahlzahn

Arkansas is likely keeping Pittman than ever hiring Malzahn.

I have a feeling you're correct.
The program is really pathetic.

Malzahn has no interest with Arkansas and wants nothing more than see them punished for rejecting him when he was interviewed a few times.
He should be thanking Arkansas for getting him a very easy path from high school to the SEC when it would take decades or never with most coaches.

That is exactly what they're doing.

Both the transfer portal and early signing period being in December can affect the timing of coaches being let go. That’s the reason why Jimbo Fisher and Zac Arnett were let go before the end of the season. Hire a new coach in time to do some damage control in recruiting and transfers. Otherwise schools will use a “dead man walking” coach as a tool for negative recruiting to flip recruits and transfers.

If Pittman is out at the end of the year then Hunter should be out interviewing and talking to potential candidates already. In fact, doing it this way may allow him to feel out potential coaches without as much scrutiny.
Thing about the portal and recruits is that we and other new coaches can’t start until the end of the football season anyway. As such, they can’t contact recruits or portal players at this time anyway.

He should have been fired after the Mississippi St loss. You're right, Hunter better be talking to people right now.

Do they even teach english and grammar in Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana?

My bad. I went back and edited the post to add “and Pittman” without changing to “Are” as well. But, honestly, if that is all you care to add then you can frick right off.

I think he retires and Arkansas let's him go out on his own terms that way. He's a great guy and has a ton of respect in college football.
Love me some Pit Boss. Hope he becomes a commentator/color guy on TV.

Sexton used Arkansas interest in Malzahn in 2017 for leverage to win Gus a generously insane new contract with an equally insane buyout, which he is in process of being paid. So no what you said could not possibly be correct.

He was never coming here and never will.
Yes he used Arkansas and Auburn to get more money but he remembers the rejection and thus wanted payback. He faked his interest with Arkansas and used Auburn to get his way.
He did because he is an egomaniac.
