If you are an AD do you consider hiring Chris Beard?

Let's assume the charges are dropped and the legal issue goes no further (which seems to be likely given the recent position of his fiancée). Clearly he had a physical altercation with his fiancée. Clearly, by her own admission, she was the initial physical aggressor. Clearly any school that would chose to hire him would face a significant backlash of negative public opinion.
However, he also may be one of the best college coaches in the country. He completely turned around the UALR program in one season. In year 2 he had a program with little to no basketball history whatsoever, Texas Tech, in the Elite 8. In year three they were a breath away from a National Championship. He looked to be in the process of building Texas into a national championship contender in year two.
There are no guarantees in coaching searches. But Beard's on court success is about as close to a guarantee of future success as one can get. If your basketball program needs a new HC do you take a chance on him? The "cons" in doing so are big and obvious. But the "pros" in doing so could be tremendous.

Auburn would hire him if pearl retires.

If the charges are dropped he will likely have a long list of suitors
Some may pass based on the optics of everything

Yes, absolutely. And if the charges weren't dropped, I'd just wait a year or two and then have him cry and say he's a changed man at an absurd press conference.
No AD really cares about him beating his wife. Only the optics.

He's an accomplished coach that really "shouldn't" be available given the status of the program at Texas when he was fired and the fact it is his alma mater. You may not hear anything publicly, but I bet ADs that know they will likely be firing their HC at the end of the season AND those who, previously, had no thought of firing their HC at the end of the season are at least considering him. If Kentucky continues to struggle (relative to their standards) they are going to be screaming for Beard at the top of Rupp Arena

If I’m the UK AD I’d tell him if he ditches the crazy woman he should be on the next flight to Lexington.

Think about the opportunity. There is likely going to be no conviction...or even prosecution. There are no Title IX administrative issues. There are no NCAA violations. And there is (presumably) no large buyout to pay his former school. You may have one of the 5-10 best coaches sitting there as essentially an unrestricted free agent. The ONLY question you have as a school/AD is do you have the stomach to accept the internal and external negative backlash?

It’s college hoops. There are no saints in that racket

Just structure it as a trade:
Texas Receives:
John Calipari
UK Receives:
Chris Beard
Chris Beards Woman Receives:
Check to go away

College basketball has long since lost any sense of a moral compass.
Honestly at 95% of college programs, Beard is still working. But UT is extremely liberal, even for a university.
If he's cleared of all charges and can be shown to be truly innocent (two different things of course), then yeah someone will go after him.

Yes, with stipulation that he dumps the crazy fiancee.

UK could find someone without the baggage.
Hell, at that rate we'd just hire Pitino back.

Auburn will no matter

Woody won’t, negative media scares him.

See how the legal aspects play out. He will likely have to do some Sunbelt purgatory first.
His Little Rock team was the best Sunbelt team in 20 years, if not longer; they played absolutely lock-down defense and should have been an at-large even if they hadn't won the sunbelt tourney.

Do schools really care about this stuff? Hasn't affected Brian Kelly.

Woody and Tate let Forde and Dickie V decide to fire our basketball coach.
