And you believe this why? It was nothing but lies and bullshite posted on this forum by the same pieces of shite that are complaining now. The lies were then furthered by a worthless media that never tells the truth. Woody never said anything about the search during all the hysteria on this forum. So why would you perpetuate a lie now that Riley was the top choice? Explain how you know this, and back it up with verifiable proof. I challenge any Riley dick rider to do this. Truth is, none of you can. You're just spoiled little crybabies.

There were high ranking AD officials telling people for weeks that it was Riley, signed, sealed, delivered.
If it had been Kelly all along, why not announce it Sunday, press conference Monday so he can start recruiting.

Just heard in ESPN Radio that he was approached initially earlier in the fall and declined, he then was reproached this past weekend. I can’t remember who they referenced as a source it was either NBC or CBS.

Well even if you listen to our local media, they are reporting that they were told Riley was the guy until late last week. Woodward went and asked for more money he was asking for $13 million instead of $12 million.
Then news broke that Lincoln had taken the USC job. I think its ignorant to think we never had any discussions with Riley about becoming our coach. I think there were multiple discussions about salary and once we realized we could not get him we turned to Brian Kelly on Sunday.
He is a defensive minded head coach with a history of bringing good offensive Coordinators with him so the hire is good one with a lot of potential to be a great one. Which is why right now I give it a 7 instead of a 9-10.

I think this is total bullshite. I bet Jimbo wasn’t even on the list. Woodward probably thought that hire to A&M turned out mediocre at best.

I want to know if the LSU coaches following LR on Twitter was real or fake, and whether it was set up or if they just did it. Was a brilliant smokescreen if it was a set up. (“Boys, do me a favor and go follow this guy on Twitter - thanks”)

It’s pretty obvious what happened behind the scenes now. We never were hiring Riley and it was Kelly all along. Both have the same agent so all the smoke was great for both coaches and schools. So why fan the flames when it’s working? WoodwRd had his bird in hand the whole time while laughing at all the “insider”.

I think the deal was 100% in place on Thanksgiving. Scott may have vetted others before but Kelly was his 1 and always was.

We'll never know that. And either way, Woodward did a spectacular Job.
If USC poached Riley quicker than Woody could get approval and Woody pivoted to Kelly and sealed the deal that quickly. Magnificent maneuver.
If Woody had Kelly as a contingency, prepared to move quickly if things fell through, very professional planning. Preparation for roadblock and pitfalls is what professionals do. Having such a good backup plan is a great thing.
If it was never Riley and they were just waiting for how things played out this week with the CFP ratings or so Kelly could get back to tell his team (I believe the info got out before either party really wanted it to), it was a masterful play by woodward to let the Riley to LSU fester like he did.
So I don't care what happened other than idle curiosity.

One key detail to possibly figuring out this story is something the Notre Dame AD mentioned in his presser this morning. He said he had a feeling for weeks that Kelly was moving on or that something was up based on BK's behavior.
I think LSU got their #1 guy.

Some version of this. Mostly because they have the same agent. Why would the Riley stuff leak unless it was to help his other side of the table? Makes complete sense if Kelly was already signed/committed to LSU.
Woody being on vacation is probably the other big indicator that this was done. Doesn't feel like panic at all.
