I was surprised to hear that Pete Carrol thought so highly of LSU

Why? Just because he was at USC for that dynasty doesn't mean he's clueless about what LSU is and was.

I think it’s about time our own fans realize that not only do we ourselves think we have a national (and even international) reputation and brand, but so does the rest of the country (specifically football).

The way everyone talks about us, always. The way everyone loved LSU with Les and O, and wanted BK gone almost immediately.

The way everyone is scared to death about LK and LSU.

They know what we always thought - and it’s time we realize it.

LSU is a brand, a leading brand. It’s a destination. LK has an opportunity to give us what we always wanted with Nick - years of championships.

(Or, he could leave in a year and we all go bizzerk)

Why surprised? He's been involved with the NFL for a long time now. He knows what LSU is all about.

It makes sense now but the sport was way more regional when PC was at USC and things weren't near as connected as they are now.

He probably knows it's a good spot but I doubt he knows a ton.

Carroll has been around the block far longer than just his USC days man. Monte Kiffin took over at NC State when Bo Rein took the LSU job. His DC? Pete Caroll. Pete was also a GA under Monte when he was Arkansas' DC in the 70s. He's coached in the south before.

Carroll has also said Tommy Casanova was one of his favorite players ever.

LSU may not like USC, but it's not the other way around.

I was unsurprised to learn that there’s yet another famous football coach whose name you cannot spell.
