Saban to the Lakers. He likes Kobe. Kobe + Dwight + Saban = CHAMPIONSHIP(s)

bullshite, he's going to buy, own, and coach his own NBA expansion team because he needs total control of the process.

[quote]It is funny to me that on the Rant if you are an LSU fan and admit that Saban is a better coach than Miles you are considered a Negatiger and told to go die in fire, or whatever the current pejorative term may be currently.

I think this is false. I think most are willing to admit saban is better than miles. however, a lot of the people who tear down miles compare him to saban as if they can find another saban or get him back.

p.s. my opinion, saban leaves. I believe he feels he's done everything he can do at bama/college. The only thing left before he is to old is prove he can coach at the n.f.l. level. I think he's goal oriented and that eats at him.

i'll trade a bama n.c. all day for him to be gone!

The Fin's media reported that the nite Nicky left, without a face to face with his staff, the whole staff had a huge party in the staff's building. He was intensely disliked by his staff & that rep has followed him where ever he's been. While winning is obviously the main goal for any coach, so is quality of life & under Nicky's "process", that life sucks. That he is still a great college coach speaks to his ability to lead college kids. Pros not so much. Staff, not so much.

Cowherd actually said something that made sense: " Alabama is suffocating. It's Roll Tide, 24-7 all year long. Cleveland won't be this way."

Saban definitely had a bad rep with assistants and staff while at LSU, as only the most loyal ones stuck around. Other than Fisher, Dooley, and Muschamp, there was a steady revolving door in and out of BR for his 5 year tenure. And if you look at where those guys went, most weren't taking promotions. They were making lateral moves, or even in a few cases, taking demotions to get out.

However, this hasn't been as much the case in Saban's time at Bama. It seems that a lot of that staff has stuck together, and that when people have left, it has been for better jobs. Other than Major Applewhite (who seemed to be and overrated coach and a bad fit), the Bama staff isn't leaving unless they have a good reason to. In other words, it seems that Saban learned from the past and loosened up a little on the underlings.

As for Saban leaving Bama, I think he would if he were younger. He could become the only coach to win titles at three different schools in college, or could probably win a Super Bowl if he stuck it out and was willing to adapt to the ways of the NFL. However, at his age, I doubt he coaches anywhere else. He probably has 4-6 good years left, and it would be silly to walk away from Bama and leave 2-3 titles on the table.

This right here. He did to Sparty for sure, don't remember the exact phrasing with LSU but it was close.

I actually think Jones could lure him if he agreed to give Saban full control (not likely) because of the talent level of the Cowboys (I hate em but got to admit they are world class underachievers). Still think his style flops with high maintenance adult prima donnas who have a taste of freedom.

It wasn't his coaching at Miami that made him miserable it was the players not buying in to his style of coaching.

seems to me it was management. if he would have landed Brees like he wanted his 15-17 record would have been a lot different. Also the dolphins havent do much better since he left so was it really the coaching? i dont think he was a failure in the NFL

Are you referring to Kirk Doll, Leroy Ryals and Tim Walton?
They are the only members of the 2003-4 staffs
who didn't go on to much greener pastures or higher profiles immediately upon leaving Saban.

Bobby Williams - coached with Saban at MSU, LSU, Miami, and now Alabama
Scott Cochran - coached with Saban at LSU and Alabama
Lance Thompson - coached with Saban at LSU and Alabama (twice)
Kirby Smart - coached with Saban at LSU, Miami, and Alabama
Will Muschamp - coached with Saban at LSU and Miami
Derek Dooley - coached with Saban at LSU and Miami

For every coach that runs away from Saban, there are 10 more lined up at the door begging to get in. Not every coach has what it takes to work as hard as Saban to be the best. And, I'd bet that those that run away, are not very successful.

I wonder what his incentives are like in his contract. I wonder after every title if the lawyers gotta come up with some new incentive.

Like is it in his contract if he wins 2 NC back to back he gets 2 mill more raise over what he's making now. He could probably ask for something like that and get it.

He can get what he wants from Alabama. His impact on the revenue is substantial. He's probably underpaid, relative to the impact.

Here's my question for people saying that Saban is goal oriented and wants a shot at the NFL again.

What about the upcoming playoffs in CFB? I would be a substantial amount of money that Saban wants to win the first championship game in the playoff format. And then he wants to win a few more.

This factor is being overlooked by almost everyone. Saban wants to be the first coach to dominate the playoff era of football.
