I don't understand why Lane Kiffin isn't a hotter candidate for A&M

What he's accomplished at Ole Miss is impressive, and he's done it with different personnel and different coordinators. Is it his personality? Fear he'd leave for Bama? I just don't get why he isn't the obvious choice for Aggie.

Edited to correct Kiffen to Kiffin, because typos really bother some people.

For starters, he already makes around $9.1 million at Ole Miss.

A&M would have to likely pay him $10M+ with a sizable amount of years and buyout to bring him in. I don't think A&M neither wants or needs to do that. But who knows how much they're really willing to spend for certain candidates.

#2 Lane has shown some disdain for A&M as it is. Could be theater though.

There are dozens of threads regarding the parameters under which this search will work for A&M. He fits none of them if they are true.

1. Perhaps they inquired and he said no.

2. Perhaps aTm took note that in 14 seasons as a head coach, he has accomplished three divisional wins and has been fired mid-season twice.

Culturally Lane would be a much better fit elsewhere.

Lane Kiffen doesn’t coach Ole Miss…. Lane Kiffin does

Because they don’t really want to win, they just want people will fall in line and kiss the ring

A&M isn’t some premier top tier program you jump to. What in their history suggests otherwise?

I’d put Auburn and Tennessee as better destination jobs than A&M.

There’s no incentive for Lane to move from a well-built Ole Miss (and $9 million/year) to A&M. It’s barely better than a lateral move.

Because A&M isn't paying 10M a year for the HC. AD already said that.

I bet they try to find some semi proven up and comer that they think will be lightning in a bottle, pay 4M a year then increase with incentives etc.

Could be wrong.

It'd be a terrible fit culturally and both sides know it.

Ole Miss is benefiting from the SEC West being down - LSU, Auburn, aTm, Arky all rebuilding - and Lane still can’t win anything of note. He’ll crash and burn like every other stop, and all the ADs know it.

He was begging for the atm job but they declined to even interview him bc they’ve got Ryan Day in the bag

Those weren't exactly win/loss performance related.

Kiffin is paid well at Ole Miss, and he has the program good enough to make a 12 team playoff.

Cause it’s understood in the coaching circles that he is Saban’s replacement at Alabama

I don’t understand why you can’t spell Kiffin.

It says the Raiders are a shite show, and have been for a long time.

Was the 2nd one at U$C? I mean, anything recruiting related he did wrong is probably not an issue nowadays.
