Down vote away, you filthy animals!

There is some buzz out there that Cortez Hankton is very much a thing as the WR's coach, though. That would make some sense if Monken was coming too.

And if I'm Monken I want to get away from Kirby Smart's Bum Phillips arse in the worst way, so I can see the lateral move.

No he wouldn't. Their offense is the reason they underachieve with all that talent. They get Bama talent and Smart is like the 2021 version of Bob Stoops. We need progressive offense not regressive. They have shite the bed big time with the WR talent they get there. I guess you could make an argument they have an offense with him there that was better than what Richt ever had but that's not saying much?

Why would he leave in the middle of playoffs knowing BK is likely going to have a hand in his offense anyway? Same thing with Herman mentioned on here. You really think that ego maniac could work with BK?

Actually, I do. For a while anyway. I could be waaaay wrong on that however.

I personally think Herman's ceiling is OC, and that ego is part of that. But I think, at this time, Herman would be good for a couple of years for a reset.

But, to your point, I also think it would have an expiration date because of that ego and the likely grating with CBK.

Personally, I think Monken is being held back by Kirby. I don’t want him here, but I think he would have a more open offense with a less conservative, defensive-minded head coach dictating style.

Oklahoma St passed for 387 yards per game in 2011 and 332 in 2012 with Monken as OC. That doesn’t sound like a Les Miles offense. Georgia’s offense this year is limited by Kirby Smart and by having a walk on QB. Even there, Georgia is #7 in the country in scoring.

I don't know why this is such a common sentiment here. Monken is absolutely one of the top college coordinators. Georgia has been piling on points all year with a fricking walk on QB starting and throwing to a receiving corp whose best player is a red shirt freshman mid 3 star. Bama's defense isn't actually remotely bad by any objective metric contrary to popular belief. The Georgia offense everybody thinks of when they think Georgia offense is Chaney+Coley's offense. Monken isn't leaving for another college job, but if you're going to melt over Monken, there is not a coordinator who will make you remotely happy.

I would definitely agree with that. Few college OCs have 4 years of experience as OC in the NFL and 3 more as a head coach. His last three years as a college OC, his teams have ranked #7, #3 and #2 in the country in scoring. I’m not sure what more fans would want than that. I’m hoping he feels handcuffed by Smart and is open to another opportunity with LSU.

I find it amazing how people have yet to recognize what a total Neanderthal Kirby Smart is when it comes to offensive football.

He's Bum Phillips for the 21st century. He recruits 350 pound offensive linemen and 5-star running backs and he wants to run the ball 60 times a game.

If you're Kirby Smart's offensive coordinator, your job is to call running plays and play-action passes and if your quarterback throws an interception you have to give Kirby a free night with your wife.

Do you really think Todd Monken wants Stetson Bennett out there instead of J.T. Daniels?

That isn't Monken's offense. Monken has a track record at Okie State, as a head coach at Southern Miss and at Tampa in the NFL, where he got a 5,000-yard passing season out of Jameis Winston, on his resume. He didn't suddenly become a bran-dead dipshit - and the fact you think he did is precisely the reason he's going to want to leave.

Like I said elsewhere, if it is Monken I would hope he proves that Kirby's penchant for game manager QB's (Bennett/Fromm) is what held him back from a more wide open offense.
Otherwise I would once again organize the distribution of the pitchforks & torches.

Yeah i don't get that sentiment either.

Monken is a great coordinator and offensive mind. The man knows football.

What’s funny about Monken’s career is he could have been Les’s savior instead fans flipped over the possibility of him being OC, we got Crowton instead. While it initially worked, he’s later failure is probably a huge reason Les went into his offensive shell
