First I am a fan of Jimbo Fisher and I do think he would be a good hire if we do hire him. But for the hire Fisher at all costs crowd, hopefully you understand what you are requesting.

Right now Fisher is the 5th highest paid college coach at $5.2mil per year. His contract runs through 2022. I would think in order for him to leave FSU we are going to have to pay him Saban or close to Saban money. What that means in order to bring him to Baton Rouge you can just about bet we are going to have to give him probably at least an 8 year contract that pays him $6mil to $6.5mil per year.

I am not saying he is or isn't worth that, I am just saying that he better bring NC titles with that pay!

IN 7 years at Fla State Fisher does not have a better record than Miles and Fisher actually had good QBs.

Someone made a thread a few weeks ago about how Alleva wanted O and that the boosters hired a firm to help with the search because they were not happy about that. It may be bull shite. I don't know. But my question is,

If Jimbo is being pursued, is this Alleva who's pushing it, or boosters?

If boosters are taking care of the bill and this is the coach they want to invest in, we may not have much of a say anyway TBH.

LSU = Top 5 job($)
Jimbo = Top 5 coach($)
Top 5 job($) + Top 5 coach($) = Top 5 team

This equation requires top 5 money in order to remain consistent and hold value.

No one on this board is in charge of the LSU athletic budget.

I never get why fans are so concerned with how wealthy boosters choose to spend their money

he has a better winning percentage.

Some would call that a better record. Because it is.

But we're not talking about Miles vs. Fisher. Miles is gone, he wouldn't make changes to his offense and lost his job.

We're comparing Fisher to the other options for LSU, namely the wave of support for a coach whose resume pales in comparison to Fisher's.

I always expected LSU to have to pay in the $6-7 MM dollar range to get Jimbo. And that's still a bargain. The guy will get LSU back to winning titles again.

Well they won't be paying him that kind of cash not to bring LSU back to winning titles that is for sure!

Because those wealthy boosters didn't make their money in football. That means they're no more knowledgeable about it than most other fans, but they're arrogant enough to believe their own opinions of themselves because they're good or lucky at something else. That means they're just as likely as other fans to jump on a bandwagon because they believe what the bandwagon has to say. And if the bandwagon riders don't know what THEY'RE talking about, then the wealthy bandwagon boosters can bandwagon the school into a stupid hire.

I don't know if Fisher is the guy or not, and don't care. I just hope that whoever is hired is the right guy and Alleva - or whoever is pulling the strings - makes a good decision.
