Nutt recruited better than him at Ole miss. And Jimbo regularly recruits a top 3 class. Sounds like Jimbo has the edge in recruiting

you'd have to look at the state of each program separately in order to judge LSU's situation compared those schools.
LSU currently sits in the top 5 in recruiting nationally, and is on the cusp of a possible Sugar Bowl berth.
Now go compare that to the state of those other programs.

Yeah, I was trying to provide my most flattering assessment of Coach O. If his supporters want to say he couldn't win at OM, then fine.
But then those same people can't try to say that he's the type of coach that can challenge Saban or Meyer, because those coaches could have turned OM around. They've turned around everything they've touched. So then the question becomes, why do we want him if he has no potential to become as good as them. If you don't have a Saban/Meyer, you should try to get one, not just give up because the odds of finding one are low.

This isn't some rare attribute either. There are plenty of positional coaches in this country that could be 4-1 with this team right now.

Im not and never have compared him to Jimbo
Jimbo would recruit LSU fine, as would a handful of other coaches.

and he visited 10 high schools in 1 day last month, despite not knowing if he will even keep this job when it is said and done.

He's recruiting coordinator anyway and he's fighting for a job he doesn't have.
I would expect anyone else to do that too in his position.

He had the same hype and energy at Ole Miss and couldn't sustain it and it ended disastrously. He said the same exact stuff, the players reacted the same exact way. It just didn't last.

In a sense, he's a perfect interim. Can recruit and keep talent from jumping ship and he's fun for the players.

I disagree with the idea Orgeron has shown signs of improving. There is no way to see that until you see him run a program of his own for several years. What his career so far shows is not much change in his first year and progressing futility in the following years.
Orgeron gave fantastic interviews when he arrived at Ole Miss - interviews about installing winning program's mentality. Those eventually were understood to be empty promises as the program worsened year after year.
And when he was lobbying for the USC job he was viewed as a potential hire until being exposed as clueless by Mora Jr. Watch his interviews after a loss and you will be annoyed by the end of the first year. Irate after year two and insane by year three. The pitch changes a little from place to place but Orgeron's results have never backed up his rhetoric.

I loved seeing Ole Miss suck. They were the joke of the conference. What really sucked is when Dale Nutt took that same team and beat LSU's arse with it the next year.
