In a sense, he's a perfect interim. Can recruit and keep talent from jumping ship and he's fun for the players.

He's like the fun substitute teacher everyone loves.

This. I love the guy. I would love to have him remain and help recruit and fire up the D line. There's a reason why at his age and experience level he hasn't been trusted with a coordinator position or handed the reins of a preeminent program again. LSU fans have not suddenly uncovered a diamond in the rough that everyone else was too stupid to hire.

meh, they probably told you that to be nice. When I'm in baton rouge on business I try to be friendly as well.

Honestly, Nobody was even talking about it. We didn't care.

This isn't some rare attribute either. There are plenty of positional coaches in this country that could be 4-1 with this team right now

Well I am of the opinion that there are many coaches that can come here and be successful...CLM sold me on that.

they aren't THE reason, but they make up a part of the reason where he would be fine.

he was a first time coach in a shitty situation. 10 freaking years ago. You keep wanting to draw parallels but the guy has changed.

I think there are tons of coaches that could come here and win 8-9 games a year.

We should demand and get someone who we can expect to win 10+ games a year.

Yes, let's not use his past head coaching experience as a factor. He's changed guys. You can tell because of his recent head coaching experience!

Maybe. Maybe not.

I am saying we should not take the risk. We aren't a guinea pig program.

I look at Ed Orgeron as having a pretty good ceiling and a really, really low floor.

Me, one of the more vocal negatigers when it came to Miles? Someone who wanted him gone several years ago, and definitely wanted him gone at the end of last season? Yeah, that makes sense. Given your inane mutterings in this thread, I'm hardly surprised at this stupidity.

So why not hire the one who would be 10th on most teams' lists, right? You're on fire in this thread.

I'm sure that is the goal regardless of who we hire...Jimbo won't win 10 this year

There are fewer risks with guys who have proven they can manage a successful program though. That's my entire point. And that list isn't just Jimbo. There are 10+ coaches who are better bets to succeed.

We can easily mitigate this risk.

you do realize i am not pushing for O to be the next coach, right?

Im defending him based on the notion that he would be a complete and utter failure.

Well he's won 10 6/7 years so far. And while I want Jimbo, I think there are a bunch of coaches that give us a better chance to win 10+ year than Ed Orgeron.
