I was hoping for LSU’s sake he was going to the tigers as an analyst.

Go watch your crappy basketball team lose by a zillion to Gonzaga and stick to what you know

One thing is for certain. Literally no one in this thread knows jack shite about this coach, including myself.

Bama fans are way too happy about this for my liking. Sounds like he was their Brad Davis.

He was unimpressive at Alabama.

He just left? Or was told to go?

He was on the Alabama staff when Saban retired and DeBoer hired someone else. I’m not sure he was going to be retained had Saban not retired, though.

Saban said his assistants his last year are a big reason he retired because they forced him to do more than he traditionally did. At his age it was draining. He got tired of it.

Saban had to take on more of the defensive coaching duties than normal due to Kevin Steele having health issues.

Saban did say for several years before he retired that it was getting harder for him to attract assistants due to his age and that he could no longer promise assistant coaches how much longer he would coach.

Hate this. Would’ve rather moved Atkins to full Oline.

This is a definite upgrade from Davis.
Kim Mulkey coachng the OL would be an upgrade from Davis. (That POS Woodward wouldn't let BK send Davis packing at the end of the 2024 season)

You have to look at those stats and see regression from each of his stints over the past decade. Like the players got worse with his coaching, that’s scary, we already had a coach like that.

Alabama is still feeling the repercussions of his recruiting that is for sure. Wolford strategy was find the biggest O lineman prospect he could find, with no real regard for his ability to move. Everyone over the last few years has absolutely abused them.

It is telling in second year of DeBoer's tenure we only have one remaining starter that was recruited under Wolford, and he struggles mightily in pass protection. All the upper classmen have been passed over even though we are shuffling through injuries and have shuffled the o-line all year.

I am not even sure we have made it one single game this year without changing people out on the o-line. Basically playing all different guys on the right side.

Why do very well thought of head coaches hire continue to hire this guy if he is so incompetent?

Did Bama ever end the game with -3 rushing yards when he was the OL coach?

You would think it would be impossible to have the fewest rushing in the SEC this past weekend when only 2 teams played.

Someone posted that kentucky fans didn't like him and that grew legs and now continues to get regurgitated on TD. The rant isn't known for having the best opinions. It's just group think. So until someone gives me an actual reason to think this is a bad hire I'll just assume Lane knows better than the posters here

He is a journeyman OL coach whose last stop was a step down from his previous. Now i do believe he is an upgrade, it would hard not to be, but I'm not going go passed cautiously optimistic until i see the product on the field.

The OL success a lot of times can be connected to the offensive system. You have a system in place that allows you to do a lot of different quick hitting runs and passes and things like that and OL will look diffferent the that same line trying to pass block for a play action deep drop over and over. More creativity and tempo can be a friend to the line imo.

From reading a lot of these posts. Let’s all get ape shite happy, as we should that we got Kiffin only to micro analyze an o-line coach that he hires and ruin our happiness.

I'm hoping that Kiffin, the new GM, and the rest of the offensive staff will handle getting some quality OL talent.

And I'm also hoping that this new OL coach gets our guys to play nasty. Our OL needs to be the meanest unit on the field. Maybe Wilford can make that happen.
