He wouldn’t be living in the area north of lsu either? Jeez.

It absolutely does and this board can't seem to realize that. That's part of the problem with our searches. Our admin/leaders thinks everyone will see Louisiana and the little politics like they do which is laughable to anyone outside Louisiana. That's why they're always wanting to push "one of us" like O to the admin because it's easier to sell a personable guy you can market for money. This is especially true to the local fanbase.
Finding the right fit here is harder to do than most other universities. That's why LSU's greatest enemy is themselves as they can't get out of their own way.

To be perfectly honest with you the only thing I remember about Baton Rouge is what the inside of the jail looks like and that it cost me every penny I had in my pocket to get out so I could get back to my job when I was working in Texsa. Lol

10 million a year in SoCal is 5 million after taxes
It’s 7.5 million in BR after taxes.
I’d still take SoCal. Baton Rouge sucks.

He can dominate the PAC 12 much easier than he can the SEC. Plus, there may be no better situated school for NIL purposes than USC.
LSU’s biggest advantage is the passion and drive by all involved to be champions. USC’s fanbase and alums are kind of ambivalent

He won't be living next to campus. He'll be living in Manhattan Beach or Palos Verdes. Those are some nice places to live.

In way yeah. But that's from our perspective.
With the money any coach will be making the good part of town, any town, will be where they reside.
Every town from has bad parts, and great parts. What you can afford defines what that town really is to the individual.
Baton Rouge does lack one thing that many towns, big and small, have and that is a very good, non-residential, part of town. Whether it is a gentrified area, and old renovated part of town, etc. Baton Rouge lacks that "core area" that it can point to. Yeah, there's some great places to live with the right income level. But it doesn't have that one part of town, at least one, that is a draw. It's only real draw is the campus.

Clearly you've never been to LA USC is a very shitty part of LA

Does the shittiness of Baton Rouge hurt the search?
It sure as frick doesn't help us. A good living environment and a good quality of life go hand in hand. Although, 140M and 10 years is enough to convince the wife otherwise.

There is something other than $ going with that decision. I figured he was moving on, but I though he would be in BR. Dang, that move by LR is really surprising to me.
I have said that I think Woody has made his hire... still believe that. I just coupled some intel from OU with the LSU opening. Surprised at this one.

It really, really doesn't. There are a handful of big colleges that aren't in the middle of nowhere. Maybe in this particular instance it did because we're competing with LA, but usually you're competing with metropolitan areas of ~100k.

Bingo. I’ve been saying this since NIL was floating around

You and I have had very different experiences in SoCal. Los Angeles is a great place with perfect weather. It's the center of the creative universe.
