Define a better coaching job

You missed not having to live in Alabama

In my personal opinion, they break down like this (just examples, not comprehensive):

All around best jobs:

Texas
Georgia
USC

History/Legacy jobs:

Notre Dame
OSU
Michigan

Quality of Life Jobs:

UW
UNC

I think Bama is in between categories 1 and 2. My ranking of UGA is also premised on someone winning a title there, otherwise it'll continue to be a powder keg.

Why anybody with the option would choose that shithole Tuscaloosa over Austin is beyond me.

is this the only source of income for the LHN. They don't advertise or have any other revenue streams?

It's also in it's infancy too, right. I mean it was enough to cause a team to leave a confernece, so i have to think it could be a big deal.

Someone posted an interesting piece about LHN a litte while back. It seems that part of the LHN actually goes to the University an not the atheletic dept. The athletic dept take is something like 45% to 55% of the ESPN payment. I don't remember the final numbers exactly but the 1% of the athletic dept "share" was only around $65k per month which is way less than the $150K I threw out to keep the point simple.

I'm sure there will be some other revenue earned for local advertising but even if that is 2X the ESPN payment it still is an insignificant amount of money within the context of a $8M to $10M salary.

Someone like Saban would probably prefer not to receive anything from LHN if he didn't have to deal with them except for when he wanted to.

Incorrect. ESPN will not be increasing a 20 year deal because of a head coaching hire.

Cutcliffe probably has a better coaching job than saban or Mack

I think UGA is an all around top 5 job, when they get over the hump. It has the most raw potential of any SEC program at the moment, save maybe UF.

Nationally, coaching at LSU or Bama will always be considered a little different, separate, from coaching at Texas or USC. I think UGA is closer to joining those ranks. Growing school, good academic reputation, from a growing, well-regarded state, etc.

I hate UGA, but there is a reason kids from Highland Park in Dallas who can't go to Texas are flocking to UGA instead of Bama or LSU or Auburn. It has a much broader national appeal.

Texas and FSU are probably the best jobs since they are in weak conferences. High school talent instate, inferior foes and $ should = a long rich tenure.
