Texas is coming off 9-4 and 8-4 (with a bowl left) seasons.
Alabama was 6-6 with 5 strait losses to Auburn when he got there. LSU, Auburn, and Florida were all loaded.
And dont forget he was coming to UA with a bad name in the media, as an NFL failure. He'd go to TX already as a hero. The recruits would come flocking to him much faster.
Texas would be a much faster turnaround, especially with their schedule and resources. They would win the conference in 2 years max and play for a NC within 3-4 years.

i agree, I moved for work and the only thing I told them do not send me any where I cant play golf atleast 10 months out of the yr

These guys work 18-20 hour days, 7 day weeks, hardly see their families and all live in gated neighborhoods. With the glaring exception being weather, it's pretty much the same at every job.
Whether Nick Saban lives in Austin or T-town and whether Urban Meyer lives in Gainesville or Columbus, it really doesn't matter because they're still living in a baller house in a one percenter neighborhood.

If all things were completely equal, a better town might win due to a coach's family. In the real world, it's incredibly rare that all things will be equal when comparing jobs.

Dude, they won't. No way most of the other schools in the B12 will ever compete consistently with Texass. Do you not think there was pressure on the other schools during Browns first 10 years in the league.
It comes down to money at most schools. B12 isn't the SEC. There are't that many schools that will spend that type of money on coaches and facilities. They can't, they don't have it.
There is a big drop off when it comes to money after Texas and OU. You just don't know what you are talking about.
You are actually pretty clueless because most of the Big 12 schools will just not be able to respond. They don't live and breath college football in Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa St, Baylor, TCU, etc... there are no open checkbooks at most schools in the B12. T. Boone Pickens made the personal investment at OSU 6 years ago and that is the only reason they can compete now.
Behind OU, OSU has had the most recruiting success in th current Big 12. Here are there recruiting classes for the last 4 years and they MADE a significant investment in football and their athletic dept:
2009 #36
2010 #31
2011 #28
2012 #32
After OU there is a dropoff. Just how it is. While Texass has won 2 conference titles in 16 years, OU has won 7. Basically OU has won about 50% of the B12 titles.
Don't you think other schools would have responded to OU and Stoops by now or were they all just WAITING on Texass to hire someone like Saban before they decided to respond??

Are you serious? I know a ton of Bama people (and Auburn people for that matter) that own property there and in Sandestin. It's hilarious to me how Auburn fans think they run in the extreme high roller crowd and Alabama is nothing but poors.

Dude I can't change reality. FWIW I donate to charities that predominantly help impoverished Alabama fans. We remember the little people.
I see a lot of Bama people down there now. Back in the day, not that much. Of course, I'm guessing Bama people today are far more likely to make it obvious than they were in the earlier days, too.

Very true.
I think we tend to look at this through a fan's eyes and from a vastly different perspective than a coach and his family. I even heard this during our coaching search last year -- "it's beautiful up here and we're in the Ozarks and we have hunting and lakes and great schools and so much to do." Yeah, that doesn't really matter to a guy who's going to be spending 90% of his non-sleeping time at the facility or recruiting.
