Obviously, KB’s career arc will be a bit accelerated at this point since he’s taking the Bama job, so there’s a difference. But much like BK before Notre Dame, KB started at a small college and won big. He has won everywhere he’s been.

This isn’t the terrible hire some of yall desperately want it to be. Nothing is guaranteed with a coaching change, but that’s about as good as they could have expected to get. Nobody will be what Saban was, so let’s not act so scared.

Agreed. I don't know why people are acting like the guy sucks. He's a good coach. Recruiting remains to be seen but he has won everywhere he has been. I think Bama made the best possible hire.

Kelly Prior to ND: 171-57-2 (74% win %)
Deboer Prior to Bama: 104-12 (90 % win %)

Bama fans and chicken little LSU fans can try as much as they want to make LSU scared of this hire, but it just isn't going to happen. He is a good hire, but Saban is gone.

Let's see how he does on the recruiting trail and under the pressure of going 8-4 or 9-3 his first year.

The guy just got Washington to the national championship game

I don't think he's going to have many 3 and 4 loss seasons at Bama

He will lose 3 games next year. He will have Milroe instead of Penix running his offense, and Bama defensive players aren't going to stay with this defensive track record. Their schedule is tough next year as well.

You understand that you make yourself look like an idiot keeping NAIA records in there?

Also comparing bama in 2024 to ND in 2010 is laughable.

Bama fans should be offended

A good chunk of those were at the NAIA level. He has 4 seasons in FBS, 2 at the P5 level. Both years at UW he had a top level quarterback. On the other hand, that top QB was not top level until he was at Washington with DeBoer.

BK on the other hand had 19 seasons in FBS, 12 at the P5 level. At no point did he ever have a QB at the level of Michael Pennix, so he had proven he can win without Heisman level quarterbacking.

It's fair for Bama fans to have questions about whether or not DeBoer is the real deal or just the product of a star QB.

It's a great hire. He's beating the guys who are supposedly “better” hires. If you're a Bama fan, I don't see how you can ask for a better situation given who was available.

No one is recreating what Saban did.

Penix was pretty good at Indiana with no one around him.

And his biggest issue was being hurt all the time.

Could see he was a good QB before he transferred.

Alabama is an elite program, they’re going to be pretty good as long as they play football.

DeBoer is not going to sustain what saban was doing though, nobody can. And he won’t have LSU in the crosshairs like Saban did.

For that we should all be celebrating.

SEC homers will tell themselves this guy isn't very good and I hope they're right

Watching his teams the last 2 years, I think they lucked into another great one. At least it isn't saban.

If you really watched him the last 2 years, you would notice there were also about 6 games this year that were a fist fight until the very end. Washington was a lot like TCU last year. They could have easily been 9-3.

I’m not, but people thinking he won’t be able to recruit at Alabama are out of their minds. He’ll bring in top 10 classes - we just need to take advantage of the few less elite players he’ll get than Saban would have and we’ll be fine.
