Convince me why Mark Stoops wouldn't be a good hire for OU

The guy has a 10 win season at UK, and is playing for another this year, and has 6 straight bowl appearances there. The fact that he can win like that at a place like UK (football) is pretty impressive. Plus he knows the SEC which should be a big plus for OU entering the SEC. Not to mention his brother still has ties to everyone that the OU HC needs for recruiting and the whole politics side of the OU HC gig.

I've seen several people on here knocking him, but can anyone tell me why he wouldn't be a really good hire for OU (I'm not talking about him for LSU)?

I don't care enough about OU football to even give it thought. It doesn't matter who they hire really, they're going straight to mediocrity when they join the SEC.

Sure… Bama fans would love this hire at LSU.

That’s how I know it’s not a good hire.

Year-by-year offensive rankings:

CFB stats

Not good. Not good at all. And consistently not good.

He would be a good hire, just not the splash hire and one worthy of paying $26M in buyouts to land.

Heck, LSU doesn't even want Brian Kelley for goodness sake. Whoever you guys get will cause a major meltdown regardless, so I'm not even going to put much thought into who LSU should get.

The reality is he would be a good hire for LSU. He is a good coach and would win a shut load of games. These fricking kids on here loved Ed O abs Les Miles but not this guy? Wow.

He's recruiting both players and assistant coaches to UK. I'm sure it would be different at a place like OU.

I agree. They should hire him now. Better do it before someone else gets him.

If I’m OU I go all in on Beamer. He was THE recruiter for Caleb Williams.

Stoops can be the backup plan. Either will do well there.

He’s a head coach, not OC. Would it be better if they won 7 games instead of 9 but had a top 20 offense?

Stoops or Heupel makes sense. I think either would do very well at OU and know where they are headed.

His brother Bob was a God there. I don't think he would want to go there.

He’s been there long enough to get the offense in the Top40

Why are you assuming that? I clearly stated in my OP that I wasn't asking about him going to LSU.

You guys are so delusional that you all don't even want Brian Kelly, so I'm not even trying to consider who y'all should get. You guys are going to melt regardless with who you get because you had yourselves convinced Riley was coming, and now you're convincing yourself that Rhule is coming. No realistic candidate will be satisfactory for you guys.

There's no way that you can recruit a top flight QB to UK, and without a top flight QB your not going to have a prolific offense. Not to mention being able to recruit enough top flight skill players to go along with the QB.
