Miles was a cancer that needed to be removed immediately. I think Coach O has done a phenomenal job in a short period of time. He has energized and motivated the team, coaches and fans. He may not be a big name but if he beats all these sec west teams coming up you've got to respect that .

Hey I agree on the Miles statement fully. I've been ready for Miles to get let go for awhile and appreciate all he has done for us. I also give credit to Orgeron and recognize the improvements so far that's come along under his watch, But let's be honest here. Even if he were to win out or say one loss are we really wanting to pull the trigger on something that's nothing more than a hope and prayer? This team is loaded and has been for years... what he has done so far is nothing this team shouldn't have already been doing. This team returned a lot of experience and talent all it ever needed was someone who could pass the ball the least bit with some consistency to keep defenses honest so our backs could breath. This team needed someone to actually play for defenses weaknesses and let our playmakers make plays and help the defense out some. We should have beaten Missouri regardless but who's to say Orgeron can keep things going and will have success over the course of two or three years against the SEC ? No one can say for sure and it's a huge gamble considering the amount we bought out Miles and Cameron and actually have a shot at other coaches who are more proven than Orgeron who went 3-21 running his own team and staff

why do you think that?
schedule?
Player to nFL?
'
takes a while for new coach?

If they set that as the expectation, Orgeron can't be held accountable because it was going to be a "shitshow" all along.
That would be my guess.

Bingo. Already building excuses.
I truly believe Herman or jimbo could have next year's team competing for the west. But I agree orgeron would get to about 8-4 at best.

holy shite i had no idea this board had turned on O so quickly. you frickers are unstable. Herman is still my number 1 by a wide margin, but some of you are saying that even if O wins the SEC, he can frick off.

This is what kills me. Its the same thing as someone being impressed with someone because they go fast in a Ferrari. Its not impressive. Its what the cars are built to do. That is the situation Ed O walked into. A team loaded with talent and experience on both sides of the ball.We are supposed to play well! His worth needs to be built upon his abilty to build and maintain a high performing team. Ed may be able to be that man, but LSU cannot be the project school to test that theory out on.

He's coached one game vs a bad Mizzou team.....

So what if he loses one to, Ole Miss, but crushed Alabama? Then what?
Posted on 10/14/16 at 10:16 pm to Prominentwon
I'm not on the Orgeron bandwagon, so I hope LSU hires someone like Jimbo or Herman.

Yea.
This is just crazy talk.
O is not getting the LSU job unless the top tier coaches say no.

Then he still gets replaced...

Right, I hope they hire Jimbo or Herman too. But say we can't get Herman or Jimbo, do you take anyone else if O wins out? That'd make us look so f*cking stupid if we did. You won't find a better recruiter out there and all he needs is a homerun O.C. to come in and let him do his job. All Miles was was a great recruiter who f*cked with the offense a little too much and say quirky, weird things from time to time. If Miles gets an O.C. that can develop QBs and let him run the damn offense then he'd still be here.

I hope it doesn't come to this, but I agree 100%. Orgeron has an outstanding defensive staff, so if he were to become the coach, he would have to do the same for the offense (mainly OC). He would also need to hire a great ST coach. I really hope LSU goes a different route. Honestly I would take Fedora, Holgorsen, Fleck, Chip Kelly, or even try to get Fuente before O.

I live in OKC, so I was asked about Miles, when he was let go. That's exactly what I told them. It sucks too, because had he done that, he would have been the coach for a loooong time.

Lot of people freaking out in this thread... Let the season play out, the story will write itself. There's no sense losing sleep or worrying over it, because it's pretty simple whether one likes it or not...
O wins the SEC, he's the next coach (albeit very short contract and leash)
O doesn't win the SEC, he's probably not the next coach
All the conversation and debate is really moot, because it doesn't matter if one agrees or disagrees, that is what it is.

This continued sentiment to hire Coach O, a failed coach who absolutely no college team in America has wanted as their coach since his Ole Miss stint is baffling to me. Honestly, if Alleva fired Miles and Cam, requiring big payouts to them, and can't do any better than failed Coach O, then he is truly the worst AD in college sports.
Posted on 10/14/16 at 11:06 pm to GeauxBayouBengals
What's baffling is that you think you know for a fact that no college team in America has tried to hire O.

O has wanted to be a HC again, for a while. I think it's safe to say, had he been offered a HC job, he would have taken it. I could be wrong though.

My only fear about this is they jump the gun and get a subpar coach, then Coach O leaves and we are in worse shape than when we started.
My thought: Only hire a HR Coach, hold onto O until that happens.
