I feel the same way. I really like Dave and I think he’d be a long term solution for LSU, but at the same time, I’m excited about Riley. I usually have a clear favorite, but this time around I’m completely torn.

Love Aranda but Riley gives you an immediate answer at QB and offense, something that has plagued LSU for far too long.
Love Aranda but I fear we’d be right back where we are now with trying to figure out the QB position.
Give me a sure thing on offense with a chance to be good-great on defense over the opposite.

You nailed it: Offense vs Defense. Aranda brings national championship experience. Aranda is familiar w SEC. Aranda knows defense. Aranda just whipped Oklahoma and Riley. Aranda has Baylor playing excellent football in 2021. Aranda should be the next head coach at LSU. Let it happen!!!

100%. He would win big at LSU. His personality, attitude, confidence, even temperment, extremely high IQ as well as football IQ make him a long term homerun hire. It doesn't have to be headline grabbing, splah hire to be a great hire.

Good with either. Slightly prefer aranda because i believe a good defense is harder to find these days. Maybe he is the next saban/kirby as far as great coaches fielding great defenses. I know its more of a gamble though

I doubt Baylor is a destination job for a lot of coaches. The high Hispanic population in Waco would be a big draw for him and his family, but if it's a football move, then LSU or USC make the most sense if he has the opportunity. USC is kind of a clown show right now in terms of how it's being run, so other than going back to California, I would think LSU would be the better option.

I have so much respect for Aranda as a coach and person I'd love for him to be the HC. You know the program would never falter with him at the helm. Riley can re-invigorate the offense and attract QB talent which is sorely needed so he's the splash hire.
If we get either, Tiger fans should be extremely happy.

Exactly how I feel. Sure I’m excited for Riley, but I think Aranda likely will be the next Saban. I sure would have liked his return to Baton Rouge.
But yes, Coaching Changes season this year has been more entertaining than LSU’s football season.

Those were always my top two. I didn't think Riley was "gettable" at the onset.
Either one generates a level of football excitement that I haven't felt for a long time.
ETA: Anyone else will require the grieving process just to get to acceptance.

I think it's going to end up being Aranda.
OU is spooked now, they know getting into the SEC with a new coach is going to be potentially disastrous.

As far as I’m concerned there’s two home runs:
Riley: huge success at a major P5 program with multiple conference championships and CFP appearances. Elite on the offensive side of the ball and would ensure we have no issues recruiting and fielding QBs.
Aranda: Elite defensive mind and tactician. Would provide continuity all the way to Miles era (say what you want but stability matters). Would bring us back to traditional LSU philosophy going back to Saban with a focus on toughness, defense and execution.
Anyone else is really a crap shoot and I would be very worried.

This is where I’m at. Prefer Aranda because I trust defense in the long run and he’s so good at adapting his.
I’d still turn cartwheels for Riley though, because it’d be nice to get a top-3 QB recruit every cycle.

It’s a coin flip for me. I would be ecstatic with Riley but just a tad bittersweet if it isn’t Aranda as he’s my favorite LSU coach ever. Really hope it’s one or the other.
